Happy New Year Jeanne!

Hi Jeanne, thanks for adding me. I've never been to the SCBWI winter conference in NYC, but I occasionally make it to the one in New England. Have you been before?

As a teacher, I thought you might want to know about the debut (last Monday) of The Picnic Basket where school and library professionals taste new and forthcoming children's books with first-come, first-serve sample copies of books for kids of all ages. We send free books. You tell us what you thi... more

Hi Jeanne,
I saw the photo with you and your cat. I can't believe it! Is it a ragdoll? If so, I have one, too. Yours looks a lot like mine. Her name is Annie but we call her Miss Kitty because she acts like she's a princess.
I'm also a teacher...retired. The last nine years of my... more

Jeanne,
I just noticed that Lobster Press was looking for Christmas Picture Books.
"Lobster press is seeking fresh, edgy fiction for young adults, high interest fiction for reluctant readers, non-fiction for preteens and teens, and manuscripts for Christmas
Picture Books."

Jeanne, as a follow-up to your question about publishers interested in Christmas books, try using our advanced search at:
http://www.jacketflap.com/index2.asp. Enter "Christmas" (with the quotes) and choose the reading level (e.g. 4 - 8). I get 119 results for that search.

Jeanne, Great suggestion. I realize JF's list can be overwhelming, but this is due to the large amount of Christian Publishers. I would suggest choosing by title count for the current years, as it is a useful representation of what publishers are interested in at this time.
Best, Tracy

I Jeanne,
Thanks for your comments. I began writing "Cynthia's Attic" because of a recurring dream about my childhood, playing in the attic of my best friend, Cynthia. I wrote a 5 page memoir which turned into a three-book (so far) young reader/fantasy fiction series!

Hi Jeanne, thanks for the invitation. Good luck to your daughter in Japan. Any advice? Phew! That's a tall order, there's a lot to consider! Best advice I'd say is to forge as many contacts as possible before arrival, you never know when that list of phone numbers might come in useful!

Hi Jeanne
I noticed you mentioned on Annie's comments that your daughter's coming to Japan. Does she write or illustrate? Be sure to recommend her to our branch of SCBWI when she gets here!

Hello Jeanne;
Congratulations on your book "Quequechan, Forgotten River" What a romantic title. Please keep me posted when it comes out!

Thanks for the invite! Best wishes on your daughter's trip to Japan. I would suggest a book called Being A Broad in Japan to any young woman coming over. I think there is an online community, too.
Comment by Jeanne Prevost on 3/22/2007 at 2:10 PM:
I can't wait to read your book "Quequechan River". Best of luck in your future writings. From your BEST ADMIRER.

Hi Jeanne, Congratulations on Quequechan: Forgotten River coming out in the Fall. How do you have time to teach, parent, bike ride, and make homemade maple syrup? All of a sudden I feel like making pancakes! I am happy to have you as part of the JF community! Tracy
