I am a mom of 2 young children. I am an RN. After noticing that my son's school, from the principal down to the teachers did not know what a veteran was and therefore, could not explain to them on Veteran's day what one was(except to talk about war), I decided to look into creating a book about veterans (in general) and what they are. Looking to create a simple book for young readers age 4 to 8. I am looking for info on the cost to pursue this, find an illustrator and where to start. Anyone have suggestions?
I had rec'd a book called "My mommy is an airman" and although it's good for children whose mom's are deplyoing, I feel a general veteran book needs to be created that encompasses what a veteran is. Schools and teachers could use the help in explaing all the things veterans are and do besides fighting in war.
