Some years ago, I left the fast-paced entertainment (primarily music) world to start to write and create books and to photograph. However “start” is an misleading term as I wrote for school newspapers in middle school, designed event posters in high school and in college as an art history undergraduate with camera in hand, always, again fell under the spell of children's books, both for what they had to say as well as their incredible art and design.









Almost immediately I was honored to be recognized as one of those who could also create something magical, for my first picture book was not only awarded a PW “Best Books [of the Year]” award but also a AIGA graphic design award, based upon my initial design. And then, my book for teens on political activism was given many lovely honors for its non-partisan approach to involvement.











In the past few years, I have been splitting my time between several book projects for youth and serious photography exploration and exhibition. In the near future, I hope to see several books published incorporating both of my passions!











I am comfortable speaking with students of all ages, up to college and beyond (especially with my youth civics project) and recently did an artist workshop at MOCA (in Los Angeles) and at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.











I am so lucky to be in these fields!
