Answer: It's a personal choice. I invite for reasons of personality, creativity, professionalness, and just general first impression.
You must admit, you fit all these criteria. You are a creative person, with a professional demeanor, not to mention my impression is that you have a wonderful personality. Me, I am just your average nice guy.
Of course if you would like to network that does not hurt. As far as the actual beauty of friendship.
I will on occasion look for that too. However, I am aware this is the internet. Until a person actually meets face to face their is no real way of telling wheather a person is for real or false.
I wonder if, "collegue" would be a better word to use. But I would imagine many of us actually forge solid, real friendships here with time. Hope this helps.
