AnnMarie E. Chiaverilla
a.k.a. AnnMarie Ciaverilla

AnnMarie was born in Detroit, Michigan. Her first house was in Roseville. She had a great neighborhood with friends that were more like family. Her family moved to the "West Side", which means, west of Woodward Avenue when she was five. At her new home she found the fields and the farms enchanting. She spent a lot of time roaming around the country roads pretending that she was Daniel Boone. The book The Twelve Months of Michigan shows her brother Philip wearing the coon skin hat but in her imagination AnnMarie wears it. (She had a crush on Daniel Boone.. well and Michael Jackson, David Cassidy and of course Donny). :) xxxxxxoooooo

Creating The Twelve Months of Michigan was a labor of love. As AnnMarie wrote and cartooned, she got to think about her mom and dad who are an endless stream of inspiration for her plus her siblings, cousins and friends.

AnnMarie's grade school was Green Elementary, middle school Orchard Lake Middle School, and West Bloomfield High School. Later she attended Michigan State University, and got a BFA in graphic design. She had many mentors, Joe K. from MSU, Sister Mary Ignatious, Uncle Al, Ron Ward, Gordan McGowan (OCC) and Gordan MacKensie from Hallmark. She started her career at Channel 7 WYXZ TV. One of the best jobs she ever had and some of the best people she has ever known. AnnMarie cartooned her first book "The Twelve Days of Christmas" at the WXYZ Graphics studio on the weekends. "The Twelve Months of Michigan" is a spin off and is really a love story about AnnMarie's mom and dad, her siblings, her friends and of course the state of Michigan.

Currently AnnMarie lives in Commerce Township with her two kids, surrounded by family and friends and continues to color for a living and traveling up north whenever she can.
