About Molly
"... She decided to hold onto those childish things that kept wonder and meaning alive. For most they were just odd buttons or scraps of parchment, feathers and paintbrushes but for Molly they were adventures and memories that kept her dreams in motion and her childish heart at play."
An odd childhood would suggest the reasoning for my constant search for a happy adventure. I have a rather nomadic disposition, I strongly believe we are never meant to stay in one place for too long, for those who do are either lost or being reprimanded. However, as does most things in life have loop holes so does this, if staying put is something we must do we are urged to escape as much as possible through writing, music and all things housed on the right side of the brain of course. The endless beauty of imagination.
My mother, an artist and costumer; My father a craftsman and an unofficial echo of every catchy chorus, raised me and my three siblings and several house pets with two outlooks on life:
1. Remember who you are and live a life of happiness.
2. Never stop dreaming, they are the peep hole into your
soul.
My childhood can only be explained in one term, magical. I was a very lucky child- even if I didn't always realize it. There were days when I wanted more friends or to sign up to play sports or ballet but as I look back now I realize the beauty of not living the average day or participating in what for some would seem only as a voluntary robotic rights of passage. I would instead watch with eyes wide as my Mother costumed ballerinas from the Oakland Ballet Company, or piece together parts of leaves creating an Audrey II. My father would teach me the proper way to build a tree fort, to dance crazy whenever possible and to try, try again. I had many teachers who taught me in their own way, with passion and hard work.
We traveled around with the renaissance fair, the circus and several theater companies. Being thrown on stage due to the absence of an actor was not a rare occasion, For we all know, "The show must go on"... and that it did.
I carry the memories from my childhood and incorporate them in some way into all of my writings and children's stories. I spend countless hours with toddlers and those who are inspired by the simple joys of life.
I am now on my journey to start the competitive industry of the children's publishing realm. I am a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI), I have personally worn down chairs and carpets in book stores and libraries across the U.S and I currently produce a viral children's block for Blockcast Houston.
I write, I illustrate, I create soundtracks for all of my stories and I love what I do.
