About Jan
My native country is the Netherlands ( 'Holland' for short). During my my compulsory military service (from December 1960 - July 1962), I wrote a short story and got a prize of 300 Dutch guilders, an amount of money I had never seen before.
I went into publishing and did all my studies in the evening. Those included Marketing and Theory of Education. My last study was History on a Dutch University. In the meantime I became marketing-director of a huge Dutch publishing company that was and still is operating internationally.
I had to retire early because of bad health, divorced and married again in 1982 with a Spanish-Catalan woman named Carmen. I have two children of my first marriage. One is licensed by the Utrecht University in Spanish and works for UNESCO and other organizations in Latin-American countries. She is specialised in giving conferences on a Government and National level about fighting AIDS and trying to better Women's rights in all Latin-American countries.
The younger one is licensed in Psychology by the Tilburg University (also in Holland). She is specialised in guiding change-processes in mainly Dutch enterprises. She now has her own enterprise called 'Bright Management'.
I have - sadly - no children of my second marriage.
That's all.
