The good doctor is in! Blakfacts Publications just released Dr. Akh N. Aten's latest work, a child friendly book about the Manacala games, particularly Oware, from Ghana.

He is interested in developing child centered curriculum with a focus on African/American history. This first effort is a good example of his holistic approach to learning, it incorporates map reading, a lost art; game play; art and math.

Dr. Akh, as he is affectionately called spent four years developing curriculum in a homeschooling environment and is currently working in the Akron area teaching children from K-12. He specializes in math and will be coming out with more books for children on the Mancala games. His goal is to develop a method of using the Mancala board for game play and math class.
