I work with undergraduates on an initial teacher programme. One of my research areas is the area of critical pedagogy. I am always on the lookout for good picturebooks that will stimulate thinking and dialogue. I use picturebooks to develop critical engagement - critical thinking, critical literacy and visual literacy - in an approach I call 'Critical Thinking and Book Talk' (CT&BT). I work with children, teachers, parents, childcare providers and librarians nationally and my work has now been adopted by the National Council Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) 'Aistear Toolkit'. I am co-author of the 2012 Routledge publication 'Enhancing Practice through Classroom Research'
