And congratulations on taking the plunge. For many of us that's a lot tougher than writing stories, and nowhere near as much fun.
Here's my good vibe offering: Last evening I received an e-mail from a magazine editor who had bought one of my Alaska travel articles a few months ago. She asked if I had any others covering the American west -- but not Alaska -- and if I did, could I send one. Since I have a couple dozen lying around, my answer was a quick "Sure do."
Because I've only been at this for a couple of years and have found some success (but not a lot), such letters make me feel pretty good. I sent the story this morning.
She may not buy the article, but when an editor contacts me with such a request, it affirms that I'm doing something right.
That's the good vibe. But don't be disappointed if it takes a while to get noticed. And don't stop writing. And don't stop submitting.
