About Herman
I' m retired now, so I can spend my time doing something I enjoy: Written children's books. I have written a series of books called Tiana's Nightly Dreams, for my daughter, Tiana. I want to publish the first book, Tiana's Nightly Dreams: "Teakettle City's First Cultural Tea Party. Have you ever wished dreams could come true? That's what happens in Tiana's Nightly Dreams: Teakettle City's First Cultural Tea Party," a picture storybook written for children from 5-10 years old. The New Legacy Kids, led by an imaginative little girl names Tiana, go about their playful activities in Teakettle City, a city created in Tiana's dreams. Tiana's special gift is that she can make these dreams come true. As The New Legacy Kids bring Teakettle City into their waking lives, they learn behaviors that promote harmony and safety. My research shows that there is nothing comparable on the market. Although many books build their stories around teakettles (" The Eclectic Tea Kettle," Hannah and the whistling Teakettle," "I m a Little Tea Pot"), or use variation of the tea party theme ("The Whimsical Tea Party for Children," "Sarah Elizabeth Plans a Tea Party"), many are geared towards simply teaching little girls how to hold tea parties. I found nothing that combines a unique environment with a message of Cultural diversity, respect and safety, wrapped up in an engaging story peopled with sweet, whimsical characters. A sign in the road reads "Welcome to Teakettle City." You enter a city full of teakettle-shaped homes and businesses, in as many shapes and sizes as the mind can imagine. Tiana created this majestic world in her dreams at night, Tiana's friends appear alongside her, and during the day. Tiana's lively imagination turns her dreams into real-life adventures. She and her friends become their favorite characters: Chocolate Brownie (Tiana), Banana Pudding, Chocolate Chip, and many others. With just one escapade in Teakettle City in the company of Tiana and her friends, children everywhere are sure to dream their own sweet dreams. They will see how a rich imagination can take them anywhere because there are no boundaries to fantasy in Teakettle City. As the story unfolds, Chocolate Brownie and Banana Puddings' mothers are planning a surprise tea party, where the kids will learn about customs, traditions and manners of other cultures. As the mothers move around Teakettle City, they teach the importance of practicing safety at all times as well. Tiana's Nightly Dreams was edited by Laura Roberts / www.laurasproofs.com) and illustrated by Susi Galloway / (www.susigalloway.com).
