About Sharon
I am a Winnipeg journalist, researcher, editor, book reviewer, documentarian and oral historian whose writing has appeared in myriad anthologies, magazines and newspapers. In a career that has
spanned almost 30 years, I have written feature articles, book reviews,
promotional materials, government reports, social history books, web copy, newsletters and documentary film scripts on a wide variety of topics. My short fiction has been published in Prairie Fire Home Place 3, Under the Prairie Sky and in the Toronto Star, and my creative nonfiction has been published in Living Legacies- A Collection of Writing by Contemporary Canadian Jewish Women, and under the Slice of Life banner in the Winnipeg Free Press. I am a regular book reviewer and faith page columnist with the Winnipeg Free Press, and a frequent contributor to several other local publications. I am currently researching and writing the history of the Manitoba garment industry. My children’s picture book, The Girl Who Cannot Eat Peanut Butter, was released in April, 2012. I am the mother of three young adults, an active community volunteer, and the co-founder of Readheads, an initiative that collects and distributes gently used books to inner-city children.
