Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought I'd be a children's book author someday, but I am. It wasn't a lifelong dream or a goal per se, it was a by-product of many passions I guess...a passion for nature and its preservation, a passion for developing people, and a passion for learning and sharing.

It all started with a fly...yes, a pesky fly! I was out shooting one day (my husband and I are avid photographers by the way) when I came across the most beautiful rose. As I focused the camera on the graceful lines of the rose petals and the brilliant colors, a black fly landed on the rose. It was easy to ignore until I reviewed my pictures that night. It was an incredible picture! Its head, legs and hairy body...all ugly as can be, but amazing to see. The following week the same thing happened, although, this time it was a speck of dirt on a leaf that turned out to be a baby grasshopper. Another incredible picture! As time went by I started to think, "there is so much in nature that we cannot see and appreciate, so why not share it." I'm of the firm belief that you can't fully appreciate something until you can understand it, so my husband and I began our research into insects which resulted in our first book, Queen Iween's Bug Buddies, and our recently released book, Queen Iween's Beautiful Butterflies.
