About Adele
Adele Celeste Geraghty, is a presentational poet, whose career also encompasses short story, journalism, and comedy/satire, as well as illustration and graphic design. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she attended The High School of Art and Design, where she studied Creative Writing under Beat Generation poet-publisher Daisy Aldan. She furthered her literary education at The New School for Social Research. In 1987, Adele received The US National Women's History Award for Excellence in Women's Related Poetry and Essay. The majority of her works depict women’s diverse roles and interpersonal relationships. Another of her recurring themes is life in Brooklyn, its changing scene and multi-cultural influence. Her current work in progress is ‘Nine Ladies Dancing’, a collection of women’s short stories.
Among her literary credits are the women’s anthology ‘Not A Muse: The Inner Lives of Women’ (Haven Press) and, magazines ‘Trespass, Still Crazy, Long Poem and Sein und Werden’. She now resides in The United Kingdom, where she and her husband, Dr. Phil Sidebottom, produce time period enactments, merging poetry and Archaeology. Her appearances include New York’s ‘Bowery Poetry Club’ and London’s ‘Barbican Library’. Her work has also been radio broadcast, in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Adele is a member of the New York ensemble ‘Arts Soiree’, a collaborative of presentational artists of varying genre. Her biography, ‘Affectionately For Adelita-The Life and Work of Adele C. Geraghty’, is being filmed by independent film company, Red Round Group. Adele is the author of 'Skywriting in the Minor Key: Women, Words, Wings', a collection of women's poetry, published by BTS Books, 2010.
