About Fernwood
Fernwood Publishing publishes non-fiction that takes a critical approach and challenges the status quo. As a book publisher, our goals are not merely economic, but political as well. In confronting issues of race, class, gender and sexuality in the books that we publish, we hope to serve as part of the process of change. Our objectives also include providing authentic opportunities to first time authors and to groups who are often unheard from in today’s media. We are not afraid to take risks in this regard and, because of our confidence in the quality of the work we choose to publish, many of our first time authors remain with us throughout their publishing career.
While we don't publish a great deal of young adult books, we have a new fiction imprint, Roseway Publishing, and we have are slowly building our YA collection.
