Biography Olga Fyne
Olga Mullings was born in New Roads, Westmoreland, Jamaica West Indies. She is the seventh child born to Alton and Viris Mullings in a very huge family. She received her formal education at the Enfield All- Age School, Westmoreland, and attended West Indies College Mandeville, Now Northern Caribbean University, where she completed a three year course of study in teacher education.
Olga is married with a family of five, and migrated to the United States Of America in 1987, where she completed an additional year of study at Empire State College (Suny) and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education .Upon completion of her Bachelors Degree, she continued to further her studies by pursuing a Masters Degree in education at Brooklyn College, and received Permanent Teacher Certification .She also became a United States citizen.
In order to qualify for the maximum salary offered by the New York City Dept. of Education, Olga had to complete thirty additional credits above her master’s degree. She is very passionate about seeing children excel academically, but she is particularly concerned about their ability to read and write. So, in order to become more proficient in the teaching of Reading, Olga pursued a literacy course of study at Teachers College, and became certified as a Literacy Leader.
Five years ago, she sensed the need to take her educational career to the next level, so she pursued a master’s degree in School Administration at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, which led to permanent State certification in School District Administration.
Olga wears many hats. She is an avid reader, is known for her singing and giving of Jokes, but she is also a committed Christian, who has a passion for souls, and an unending affection for children. She is also a dynamic preacher and First Lady, of the Beulah Church of The Nazarene, in Brooklyn New York, a church with over eleven hundred people in attendance, where her husband, Dr. Wenton Fyne is Senior Pastor.
Olga serves as Children’s pastor in her local church, and has been teaching in the New York City Dept. of Education for over nineteen years. She is presently pursuing a PHD degree in Divinity at Northwestern Theological Seminary, which she hopes to complete in the summer of 2009.
Finally, Olga was born with an insatiable appetite for writing, and finds tremendous pleasure in doing so. She sees an opportunity to write in almost everything, and has the ability to compose a rhyme or a poem out of just about anything.
About a year ago, she began to explore the possibility of publishing some of her writing. This, with the help of her supportive family, Authorhouse (publisher) Evelyn Worrell-( Illustrator), and a wonderful friend from Australia called Cheryl Lacey ,led to the publication of her first set of children’s books: “Jerry and Sherry,” Squirrel Race” and “My Shadow is a Copy Cat”
She has an anthology of other books, poems and posters to be published in the near future, which includes her next three books: “If you Fall, Don’t Get up”, “ You Can’t Teach an Old Dog New Tricks ,Because:” and “Don’t count your Chickens before they are hatched Because :” These are suitable for the general audience. Olga will make writing a life-long career and hobby with God’s help.
Olga hosted her first book- signing and launching event at the Beulah Church of the Nazarene, 1250 St. Johns Place, Brooklyn, New York, which she deems a humongous milestone in her life. This dream could only be materialized, through the help and strength of the lord. Her books are available on 25,000 websites, which includes: Barnes and Noble, Amazon .com and Borders. Olga is available for book- signing events at bookstores, libraries, schools, churches etc.upon invitation. This includes her next book-signing events, which will take place on March 21, at the Community Church of the Nazarene, 1414 Central Ave, in Far Rockaway, at 6PM, and on March 14, at the Beulah Church of the Nazarene at 7:30 Pm.
