Shutta Crum: I am the author of one novel, SPITTING IMAGE (starred review SLJ, a VOYA "Top Shelf" choice, and on the NY Public Library's list of "100 Titles for Reading and Sharing"), and nine picture books including THE BRAVEST OF THE BRAVE (an IRA/CBC Children’s Choices winner, and listed on the Chicago Public Library’s "The Best of the Best"). THUNDER-BOOMER! (my newest book, spring 2009) has garnered three starred reviews so far! Many of my titles have appeared on the Bank Street College’s "Best Children’s Books of the Year" lists, or have been short-listed for various state awards. I also write poetry for adults, and magazine articles.My day job was as a children's librarian (retired now). However, I am not "retired." These days I find I am getting more and more calls to lead workshops or to speak at state and national conferences, as well as to do author visits at schools and libraries, and book signings at bookstores. Part of this is due to the fact that I am an active member of SCBWI (The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators). With the writing--it's a very busy retirement!
