the creative process of writing and illustrating
1. Mr Tiger Goes Wild - Peter Brown

Stumbled across this author/illustrator Peter Brown when I ascertained he had won the Golden Kite Award from SCBWI for Mr. Tiger Goes Wild.  I remember seeing the book he illustrated Creepy Carrots when I was in Vroman's Bookstore signing stock for my book, Chester's Colorful Easter Eggs last spring and remarking to myself how hard it was to see new books these days because the bookstores are becoming endangered species.

Creepy Carrots was a Caldecott Honor Book and I can see why...

At any rate here is a little video of his process, and I see we have a few things in common. A background in animation and his influences are people whose work I admire as well.

And anything that looks this good in Lego is okay by me!!! And Peter will be at the SCBWI conference in August this year so I'm looking forward to meeting him and seeing more of his work because I'm going too.
