1. Teen Repeller

I'm feeling pressure to complete the final draft of SO TOTALLY EMILY EBERS. It is important to me to get it done on time, because there was that one teeny little incident involving the final draft of my very first novel and the words:

"But what don't you like about the first 50 pages?"
And
"But Lisa, we're scheduled to go to press."
And
Silence. Followed by, "Cheryl and I will get back to you soon."

Therefore, with the weight of my manuscript hanging over me, I feel it best to spend my time blogging about TEEN REPELLER!!!

I heard this on NPR and have been testing every person and dog who has walked through my office. Basically, it's that there is a sound that only Teens and kids can hear. Adults can't. I can't. Teen and her friend accused me of faking not being able to hear it. But sadly, I wasn't.

Shopkeepers in England use this noise to repel loitering teens from their stores. Funny that they should have to go to that expense though. When all they'd really need to do is yell out, "Your mom is here!"

Oh! And speaking of American Idol (or not), it seems I was right about the gray-haired guy winning. But then, I sort of have an "in" with regards to those kind of shows. My dentist was on Survivor.

Okay. Well, back to writing. I am going to take some time off this afternoon and critique manuscripts though. Next week I leave for the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to teach humor at the Florida SCBWI. I used to be a writer/producer at Disney ("Look Mickey, the Castle is soooo big!" "Yes, Minnie . . . oh no! Why is Goofy wearing a box on his head???"), so it will be nice to go back and not have to adhere to the cast member dress code.

Okay. NOW back to writing. That is, of course, unless someone walks through my office and I Teen Repel them!!!
