Good to hear it’s coming back. Hope everything is alright.

If only there were some way for editors not to release the first issue of a series until they had the first six issues completed. But it’s impossible, I assume.

1. Ugh. That page is pretty much what I hate about modern comics and their cinematic pretensions.

2. “Our creators have lives outside of comics, and sometimes those lives have difficulties that can get in the way of writing or drawing”

I don’t think there is any other area of entertainment where that would be acceptable. I’m not sure if that says something positive for how comic creators are treated or is a negative statement on how rinky-dink the whole industry is.

I recently binged the acclaimed Prez mini from DC and was mildly dismayed that a middle issue of that mini was by a different artist. Fortunately I paid nothing for it so standards are sufficiently adjusted. But philosophically I think I’d rather have a delay than an artist change.

The first issue of Karnak I did purchase with designs on the brief affair that is a Marvel Ellis project. This complicates things…and that’s exactly why I deigned to indulge in a mini, even one as rare as a Warren Ellis mini…that it wasn’t going to be complicated. It was going to be quick and rapturous and over before I realized I don’t do minis until they’re released and in my hands and being read all at once.

At least it didn’t happen in the middle before I snapped out of it. Trade it is then. I wish Zaffino well and hope everything is alright.

Yes, I liked All-New Wolverine #1 more than I thought I would, too. And mind you, I read the issue, in which Laura puts a stop to a terrorist attack in the middle of Paris the day after the actual terrorist attacks on Paris. (Oy vey!)

Really unfortunate timing.

I enjoyed the Avengers a good bit. It feels like a pre-Bendis, pre-Hickman Avengers book and to me, that’s a good thing!

Have you kept on wit my Iron Man? Issues 2 and 3 were stellar.

I’m an old school Marvel guy so my X-Men are Claremont and Byrne’s X-Men, I think the Fantastic Four should be important to the Marvel U, SHIELD works much better as a supporting character prop, and and Steve Rogers being Captain America was the reason Captain America was inspirational to the Marvel U. So basically the last 15 years of Joe Q and Axel Alonso breaking the eggs to make the perfect omelet. I liked some things but realize that was Jack,Stan, Steve, and the rest of the Bullpen created and was continued and by Thomas, Conway, Englehart, Claremont, Buscema, Byrne, Starlin, Perez, and others was essentially being scrapped. The “rules” that existed previously have changed that I truly expect Uncle Ben to be a resurrected to be a supporting cast member some day and have Axel tell CBR “We want to tell the best stories and this opens the door for all possibilities with Peter and May”.
That said (long windedly), I’ve decided since all the eggs are broken that I can give this new Marvel U a fair chance no matter how much they say it’s not a reboot. I’ve followed this column every week and find it very helpful. So far I’ve decided to pick up Amazing Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Doctor Strange.

This week I bought Deadpool, Extraordinary X-Men, and Hercules. I’ll pass on Deadpool next time but the author makes me wish I would have tried Nova (not a Sam fan though) instead. I’ll have to see if my LCS still has it.

The Vision was amazing.

Shawn Kane – That’s exactly how I feel about Marvel, though I’ve decided to move on to other comics. It’s better to let people who enjoy the books do so, without my constant complaints.

What about Uncanny X-men #600 ? No comments on that one?

that’s the thing, it’s not a reboot. just about every character picks up right where they left off right before secret wars started, just eight months later with some alternate reality characters coming to the 616 MU. when the x-men had their “all-new, all-different” (ANAD) moment way back in ’75 (being an old marvel guy like myself, i’m sure you remember), it was a mix of old and new characters put into a new situation for them to deal with, exactly how many of the characters are being situated today. i guess marvel wasn’t lying about their current crop of titles being ANAD, they just meant ANAD the way the x-men were back in the day, not in a reboot type of way.

Definitely not a reboot, just a relaunch.
