– Avengers: Infinity War, which it’s been revealed will have a grueling nine month production schedule (it is two films after all), will also be shot completely in IMAX using IMAX and ARRI’s next gen 2D digital camera. This marks the first time a Hollywood feature film has ever been shot completely with IMAX cameras and utilizing its larger aspect ratio.
Here’s a statement from the Russo Bros on this announcement:
The intent with the Infinity War films is to bring ten years of accumulative storytelling to an incredible climax. We felt that the best way to exploit the scale and scope required to close out the final chapter of these three phases, was to be the first films shot entirely on the IMAX/ARRI Digital camera.
Some select action scenes of Captain America: Civil War will also utilize the IMAX camera and format.
– This week, the broadcast networks are finalizing their pick-up decisions and what will make it onto the Fall and Spring schedule. Supergirl, for example, was picked up for a full series order yesterday by CBS, while iZombie was also renewed by The CW. The Flash and Arrow have also already been renewed for their second and fourth seasons respectively.
Now, all eyes are on ABC and NBC, as the former will be making its decisions regarding Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (which will surely be renewed) and Agent Carter (where things are far more uncertain), while the latter holds the final fate of Constantine in its hands.
My prediction? Agent Carter gets renewed for another short season, while Constantine finally sees its long-expected axe.
But even Powers got renewed, so I guess anything could still happen.
– 20th Century Fox has revealed the cover art for the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past “Rogue Cut”, which will include 17 minutes of additional footage, including all of Anna Paquin‘s sequences that were cut from the theatrical release:
– We’re only a week away from Mad Max: Fury Road hitting theaters across the country. While critics are still embargoed at this point, there’s a lot to be excited about, which I elaborated on a few weeks previous. Here’s a new featurette for the film:

We haven’t even gotten to Marvel’s latest big event picture, but Marvel is already getting their house in order for the next one.
While we knew for certain that Joss Whedon was bowing out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers: Age of Ultron, we only had rumors to go on regarding his successor(s). Now, according to Devin over at Badass Digest, Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo have closed a deal that will see them go behind the camera for both parts of Avengers: Infinity War, as had been rumored for some time.
The report also states that Marvel is looking to enlist Captain America screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (the duo that was also behind Agent Carter) to script both parts of the Avengers three-quel.
It looks pretty likely that Captain America: Civil War, which has been bantied about the studio as “Avengers 2.5″ will be the key lead-in to Infinity War and the one can’t miss film of Marvel’s Phase 3.
Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 will be shot back to back in 2016 and 2017, with an anticipated May 2018 and 2019 release respectively.
For a few months now, rumors have floated around that Avengers: Age of Ultron would be Joss Whedon‘s final bow with the franchise. Said rumors were quickly followed with reports that Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) would step up to direct Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 for a 2018 and 2019 release respectively.
While there hasn’t been official confirmation from either party, Whedon recently spoke to Empire (quotes via CBM) about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
I couldn’t imagine doing this again. It’s enormously hard, and it’ll be, by then, a good five years since I created anything that was completely my own. So it’s very doubtful that I would take on the two-part Infinity War movie that would eat up the next four years of my life. I obviously still want to be a part of the Marvel Universe – I love these guys – but it ain’t easy. This year has been more like running three shows than any year of my life. It is bonkers.
Based on the above quote, Whedon sounds like he’s ready to scale back his involvement with Marvel Studios. The popular filmmaker has been one of the creative forces of greatest influence for the studio since he came on board in 2010, particularly in providing re-writes to various scripts such Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor: The Dark World, along with completely overhauling Zak Penn‘s initial Avengers script.
It wasn’t too long ago when Jon Favreau was angling to direct that first Avengers entry. The years have really rolled by!
If Joss Whedon is indeed done after Avengers: Age of Ultron, who would you like to see take over? The Russos? James Gunn? Someone completely new?

Take this report with a grain of salt until something is officially announced, but if it pans out, this could be the moment Spidey-fans have waited for:
Latino Review (possible spoilers at the link) is reporting that Marvel and Sony have worked out a deal that would land the film rights for Spider-Man back with Marvel, or at least in a temporary fashion for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 in 2018. They also state that current Spider-Man actor, Andrew Garfield, would be replaced in the role.
This isn’t the first time that the two studios have been reported to be in discussion regarding the character. Back during the development of the first Avengers film, Marvel and Sony discussed having Oscorp Tower appear in the skyline of Manhattan as a small Easter Egg in the Joss Whedon-directed team-up. The production time-table prevented that from coming to fruition, but per emails received in the recent Sony hack, Marvel and the Spider-Man franchise’s current home continued discussions.
What we do know, again from those emails, is that Sony was planning a “Spidey-summit” this month to discuss their future plans for the character. If that summit already occurred, it’s possible that a deal could have been hammered out with Marvel immediately following. Or this could be all a lot of noise. It’s difficult for me to imagine that Avi Arad could be shaken from Spider-Man terribly easily, and as Devin Faraci reports, Arad and Marvel head-honcho Kevin Feige do not work well together.
Regardless, the idea of the character under the auspices of Marvel Studios is a much more promising development for Peter Parker and his fans, given how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 turned out. On the other hand, how many times can we be teased with this possibility?
UPDATE: Sony has denied the rumor. The teasing continues.
I think it was a good deal for Joss Whedon to hand over Phase 3 of Avengers: Infinity War to directors Joe and Anthony Russo, after all, they did good on Captain America: Winter Soldier. However, I say they need to put Silver Surfer on Infinity War part 2. Because lets be clear about this, if Thanos has all of the Infinity stones then Earth Mightest Heros are going to need help on this intergalactic threat who has been the source of everything that has happen in the MCU. I love the Avengers, but I will hate to see superheros not getting along with other superheros. It ruins the whole meaning of the word TEAM. It needs to be GOOD V.S. EVIL, not GOOD V.S. GOOD.
