2. Children Make Terrible Pets

Children Make Terrible Pets is another book nominated for the Irma Simonton Black and James H Black Award for Excellance in Children's Literature. This is a delightful book that takes a spin on every child's desire to have a pet. One morning Lucy Bear notices a little boy is the forest and thinks he is the cutest critter ever. She decides to call him Squeaker because he makes funny sounds. She begs her Mom to keep him. The Mom warns, "Lucille Beatrice Bear! Don't you know that children make terrible pets?" The Mom finally agrees and Lucy promises to take care of him. They do everything together. However, Lucy finds Squeaker is also a little difficult. He ruins the furniture and causes problems everywhere he goes. Just when Lucy does not know what to do anymore squeaker disappears. The story has a happy and loveable ending.

The pictures are adorable. Lucy bear is so loveable and squeaker has the perfect childlike expressions. Curl up and enjoy this book.
