COMIX! One of the real fun things about my last year in Paris was being able to share sketches, gags, and photos from the trip on uclick as a comic strip called PARIS DOODLES. In fact, it was so fun, I've decided to keep sharing drawings and ideas on uclick with a new strip called FROM THE MO WILLEMS SKETCHBOOK. I'll be sharing drawings from my sketchbook, dining room dinner doodles,

9. THAT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA sizzle in USA Today

USA Today has the jump on the new 'sizzle' for the upcoming picture book THAT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA! along with a fun interview on the project. I hope you enjoy. Also, Kirkus reviews likes the book, calling it "A new offering of guaranteed laughs" and "Pure glee." The Huffington Post is also looking forward to it's publication. I hope you agree when it comes out this April.

10. I'm interviewed by Rick Riordan!

Pal Rick Riordan and I will be keynote speakers in April for the IRA convention in San Antonio . In anticipation of our talks, Reading Today Magazine has an interview that we conducted with each other. It's always fun to chat with Rick, even when we're not being recorded. I hope you enjoy the conversation.

11. I'm back.

I'm back from a great trip, digging out (literally & email-i-ally) from the avalance of stuff that I need to attend to. So, quickly: Thanks to everyone who came out to MoMA, SCBWI, The Grove in LA, & Sketchfest in SF. Every appearance was great fun and very different, Here's an image of the DON'T LET THE COMEDIANS DO STORYTIME! class picture. As you can see Patton was upset he didn't get to

12. Nice news...

The San Francisco Chronicle has a nice piece about the upcoming SF Sketchfest and it's history, which includes many pals performing over the next few weeks and my first kids-sketch show, Don't Let the Comedians Do Storytime! The Irish Magazine, Inis, has an illustrated interview with me about my characters (I'll be visiting Ireland again later this fall). Also, check out this great

13. PBS KIDS GO! story contest winners + 'Mo!

I recently joined a group of "celebrity" judges (including pals & neighbors Tony DiTerlizzi and Jarret Kroscoczka) to look at a slew of awesome stories written by kids from across the country for PBS KIDS. It was fun to read what kids come up with, although pretty tough to choose (which is the point and drawback of 'judging'). PBS KIDS has announced the national winners. You can see the

14. MO-rning Edition...

Maybe you heard it on your drive to work as I sat down with Morning Edition's Renee Montange to talk about my work. If not, you can hear it (& read the article) here. Another bit of our conversation ran yesterday at the tail of a piece about what makes a picture book a picture book with Martin Salisbury. You can hear that here. It's great to chat with the folks at NPR. There is time to

15. McFADDEN INTERVIEW

Here's an interview I did a week or so back before the McFadden Lecture for the Indianapolis Library. Enjoy.

an

Also, I love this local news piece of Bangor Maine librarians playing with my characters. Particularly the kid who just rattles off all of the character names in breathless

16. DUCKLING SIZZLE!

The folks at Entertainment Weekly .Com have debut the promotional film for the Pigeon's next adventure, THE DUCKLING GETS A COOKE?! Starring Pigeon newscaster Rock Dove, the short film involves yelling, cookie eating, puppets, and illuminates nothing about the book. What's not to love. Also, check out their fun interview with me. Check it out HERE! I hope you enjoy both.

17. Mo Bio ('n Mo')

I don't do Facebook, but now I have my Face on a Book, so that's something. The folks at ABDO publishing make short biographical books focusing on author pals like Jerry Pinkney, Brian Selznick, David Wiesner, Tony DiTerlizzi, Marla Frazee, and now me. Mo Willems, the book, is a fairly accurate look into my life. I just got a copy in the post and can say it is perfect for young students and

18. More than a 7 Second Delay...

Over at the WFMU site, you can hear the broadcast of last week's Seven Second Delay show. And even though for part of the show I was interviewed by children, this is not a show for children. (Mo' pictures here) If that's not enough interview-y-ness, then pop on over to my FAQ site, where I've posted my favorite interviews/features over the last 10 years or so. Perfect if you're

19. MO at UCB for FMU in NYC

I'll be taking a quick trip to NYC next week for work, including a stop at the UCB Theater on Wed. Feb. 8 at 6pm for the comedy/interview radio/live stage show Seven Second Delay. A bunch of old pals have done this show (including David Wain, Michael Showalter, and Bill Plympton) and reports indicate it's great fun. You can check out this not for the kiddies show either by coming to the

20. Cheap.

Speaking of dining room doodles, here's a recent one: Speaking of doodles. My pal Mr. Warburton doesn't have a paper table cloth in his house, but he has a very cool way of drawing with his boys. They both get real-life, actual grown-up sketchbooks, just like their daddy! Then both the eldest and youngest kid get together and draw with dad. Awesome! Why not draw with your family soon?

21. 11 has always been my favorite number...

So it's cool when three 11's get together for the day. And if that's not enough, how about this fun, short interview? If that's not enough, how about visiting with me and Elephant and Piggie in Storrs, CT on Sunday?

22. Pals, Radio, Doodles, Pentanque...

I sat down yesterday with local radio hosts Bill Newman and Monte Belmonte for a fun chat about books, naming rights for sandwiches, and more. Take a listen here (interview starts at the 32:30 mark). Now, for a doodle. Not one of mine (you can tell because it's so much better), but from my pal New Yorker illustrator Peter DeSeve of the two of us engaged in my favorite (and now his favorite)

23. Elephants, Piggies, Triangles, Cartoonists, & Yay Richard!

It's been a crazy week of work, visiting with pals, fans, making new pals, & meeting heroes, perhaps the most fun week in my professional life to date. NYC's Book Expo was great fun, especially as the event heralded the debut appearances of ELEPHANT AND PIGGIE as gigantic costumes. My creations are bigger than I thought! Piggie trades up & makes pals with Spiderman! In addition to

24. Jon Muth & I interviewed

Here's an interview with the folks at the comic-book review site Newsarama with myself and Jon Muth talking about the process behind City Dog, Country Frog. We did this one a while ago and it was fun to revisit my chat with Jon. Such a good guy. If you want to hear us talking about the book, check out this older podcast with the New York Times. 25. I love foreign editions!

Japanese version of City Dog, Country Frog has arrived in the studio. Fantastic! Speaking of City Dog, the American version of the book is up for a Charlotte Award (that's the NY State book award voted on by real kids!) As part of the pre-award hoopla, I was interviewed by Mrs. Pegeen Jensen’s first graders at Saddlewood Elementary in Albany. They had some very insightful questions, as you
