1. Book Review: Beautiful Blue Eyes

BeautifulBlueEyes 300x292 Book Review: Beautiful Blue Eyes

Beautiful Blue Eyes by Marianne Richmond

Review by Chris Singer

About the author:

Marianne Richmond Studios, Inc., is the publishing company of award-winning author and artist Marianne Richmond. For almost two decades, Marianne has touched the lives of millions through her delightful gift books, greeting cards and gift products distributed worldwide. Her enchanting artistic style and sincere sentiment, which adorn a growing number of paper products and gift items, truly offer fans the most heartfelt way to celebrate the feelings of life.

About the book:

I watched and I waited
as your eyes chose their hue,
deciding in time
on their beautiful blue.

Blue as a butterfly wing
or the sparkly sea.
Blue as the birdy
singing in her tree!

A child”s eyes truly tell wonders, revealing personality, thoughts and feelings of the heart. “Beautiful Blue Eyes,” a sweet story with engaging illustrations, celebrates the unique spirit of the blue-eyed boy or girl.

My take on the book:

If there’s one thing that stands out immediately with my little girl it’s her big, beautiful blue eyes. Marianne Richmond’s latest book is a celebration of your little one’s baby blues and a wonderful nostalgic read for moms and dads.Although my daughter was a little young (just turned 2) for this read, she did enjoy pointing out all the pictures of the eyes, and saying “eyes” over and over. I think this is book best read with 4-8 year olds and can be an especially valuable read for helping your child feel special and unique. By reading it with this age, you can also probably talk a little bit more about the book and why a person’s eyes can be a window into who they are. The eyes really stand out in the illustrations and your blue-eyed boy or girl will love being held close to you as you read this book aloud with them. Beautiful Blue Eyes makes an excellent addition to a home library for both new and old parents of a blue-eyed baby.

2. Valentine’s Day Gifts: Kids’ and Young Adult Books

By Bianca Schulze, The Children’s Book Review
Published: February 2, 2011

Love is in the air!

From snuggle time with the youngest set to the trials and tribulations of adolescence, all you need is love. Romantic poet William Wordsworth (7 April 1770 – 23 April 1850) said, “The little unremembered acts of kindness and love are the best parts of a person’s life.” Could reading a book with your child (no-matter-what their age) be considered one of these acts of kindness? You better believe it. In fact, it may turn out to be one of the best things you ever did for your child. Not only does it allow for a beautiful moment of bonding between parent and child, it nourishes your child’s brain and can create life-long readers.

Enjoy the books below. The theme is love, but of course. “The giving of love is an education in itself.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
