1. Mayday Book Review

Title: Mayday Author: Jonathan Friesen Publisher: Speak Publication Date: April 10, 2014 ISBN-13: 320 pp. ARC provided by author The premise for Jonathan Friesen's Mayday is pretty intriguing. Eighteen-year-old Crow tries to protect her sister Addy, but ends up in a coma. During that coma, she has the chance to go on a "walkabout," an opportunity to go back in the past and change things.

2. Watch for It: Jerk California, Mayday, and Aquifer

Hey rgz!

I recently toured with Jonathan Friesen and wanted to introduce you to his writing if you haven't found it yet. His body of work is impressive with Jerk California a recipient of the Schneider Award. I just started it!

Here he is talking about his mysterious, dystopian novel, Aquifer, released from Blink.

Mayday recently released, featuring a female protagonist. Isn't the cover totally evocative?

So there you go, rgz. Check out Jonathan's work. You won't be disappointed! Oh, and if you are going to ALA Annual, we'll be signing at the Blink Booth. We'd love to see you so stop by!

3. Music Monday - Beltane Fire Dance

To continue to celebrate the beginning of May, I give you yet another applicable Loreena McKennitt (live perfomance, with seasonal photos) -

and here is one last batch of May Day/Beltane photos from Camlann -

Participants and performers alike enjoying the day, from big -

- to small....

...although even the small -

- could particpate (much to their delight)....

I certainly enjoyed the anachronisms - gown and cell phones. Robes and tennis shoes....

And here's hoping for spring in earnestness! (we could certainly use a fire tonight. It's be dismal and frigid today. Rain, wind, hail, thunder, lightening!)
