1. National Post Names New Books Editor

Journalist Mark Medley has been picked to be the new books editor at the Canadian newspaper, National Post. Quill & Quire had had the scoop.

Medley (pictured) has written for the paper since 2007, and co-edits The Afterword blog. You can also follow him on Twitter. Former books editor Sarah Murdoch left last month.

National Post features editor Benjamin Errett had this statement: “He really built the books section up all by himself, which is to his great credit … Obviously I want to keep him writing, because I think he does an amazing job with his publishing reporting … He’s only one man, but we hope he’s going to be able to keep it all up.”

2. Sharks, Durwin, Sarah Murdoch at Maroubra

Swimming with sharks has new meaning. Durwin is part of a film Sarah Murdoch is making. They ventured into the sea when hammer head sharks suddenly appeared.

Good news is that Durwin didn’t go into the waves to pat the shark. Sarah didn’t think it was a great idea.

My JACK loves the ocean since that’s where we live. Maroubra, Bondi, Bronte beaches are our backyard. That’s why the beaches are part of I Am Jack and Super Jack. They’ll be part of my 3rd JACK book which I’m have way through writing.   The sharks are coming in because Sydney waters are so clean - they’re after fish not US.
