The Bodley Head has acquired a title about the science behind sound, written by the president of the Institute of Acoustics, Trevor Cox.
Editor Kay Peddle bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Peter Tallack at the Science Factory. The Sound Book: The Science and Celebration of the Sonic Wonders of the World will be published in 2013.

Will Sulkin will be retiring from his role as publishing director of The Bodley Head in April 2012, with Stuart Williams, editorial director at Harvill Secker, to step into the position.
Sulkin's retirement in 2012 will end a 43-year love affair with publishing, which began in 1969 at Penguin Books. Sulkin described his time in publishing as "terrific", and added he was considering continuing to edit in a freelance capacity with Random House, claiming "it would be too much to go cold turkey".

The Bodley Head has acquired a non-fiction title about the developmental issues facing Africa, written by the founder of a Ugandan-based social enterprise that supplies processed coffees to the global market.
Editor Kay Peddle bought UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) through Felicity Bryan to A Good African Story: How a Small Coffee Company Tried to Build a Global Coffee Brand by Andrew Rugasira. The book will be published in September 2012.
