Hello again, book fans! Thanks to I am a Reader for another great giveaway hop. Make sure you hit the links at the end of the post (most bloggers will post their giveaway on Saturday, I'm just a little early) to enter to win more great books and prizes.
Today I'm giving away what is so far my favorite middle grade book of the year -- The Secret Hum of a Daisy by Tracy Holczer! I haven't posted a review yet, since I chose it for my YABC (book club) pick and the first rule of book club is that you don't talk about the book before the meeting :) I will probably post a review on Amazon and link it since my clubmates don't really read my reviews there. But suffice to say for now that it's a phenomenal book, and I hope it wins many awards in the year to come! The giveaway is open to US only (ends 6/30) because I have to mail something breakable to the winner, but more on that later.
About the book
Twelve-year-old Grace and her mother have always been their own family, traveling from place to place like gypsies. But Grace wants to finally have a home all their own. Just when she thinks she's found it her mother says it's time to move again. Grace summons the courage to tell her mother how she really feels and will always regret that her last words to her were angry ones.
After her mother's sudden death, Grace is forced to live with a grandmother she's never met. She can't imagine her mother would want her to stay with this stranger. Then Grace finds clues in a mysterious treasure hunt, just like the ones her mother used to send her on. Maybe it is her mother, showing her the way to her true home.
Lyrical, poignant and fresh, The Secret Hum of a Daisyis a beautifully told middle grade tale with a great deal of heart.
About the author
Tracy Holczer lives in Southern California with her husband, three daughters, and two rather fluffy dogs named Buster and Molly. She has a deep love for the mountains where she grew up so she writes them into her stories.
A 2014 ABA Indies Introduce New Voices pick, her debut middle grade, The Secret Hum of a Daisy, was written in praise of both nature and family, and all that can be found if you're willing to hunt for treasure. It will be also be published by Konigskinder/Carlsen in Germany, fall 2015.
1 signed hardcover copy of The Secret Hum of a Daisy
1 answer jar (here is the one Tracy made for me! Answers not provided, haha :) You can read a little more about the answer jar here.

1 lucky winner (any country) will win a copy of The 57 Lives of Alex Wayfare by M. G. Buehrlen! I recently read and loved this book, though I haven't written a review yet. I will post it soon! In the meantime, use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter to win. None of the entries are mandatory, but you must do at least one of them to enter!
Publisher's description:
For as long as 17-year-old Alex Wayfare can remember, she has had visions of the past. Visions that make her feel like she’s really on a ship bound for America, living in Jamestown during the Starving Time, or riding the original Ferris wheel at the World’s Fair.
But these brushes with history pull her from her daily life without warning, sometimes leaving her with strange lasting effects and wounds she can’t explain. Trying to excuse away the aftereffects has booked her more time in the principal’s office than in any of her classes and a permanent place at the bottom of the social hierarchy. Alex is desperate to find out what her visions mean and get rid of them.
It isn’t until she meets Porter, a stranger who knows more than should be possible about her, that she learns the truth: Her visions aren’t really visions. Alex is a Descender – capable of traveling back in time by accessing Limbo, the space between Life and Afterlife. Alex is one soul with fifty-six past lives, fifty-six histories.
Fifty-six lifetimes to explore: the prospect is irresistible to Alex, especially when the same mysterious boy with soulful blue eyes keeps showing up in each of them. But the more she descends, the more it becomes apparent that someone doesn’t want Alex to travel again. Ever.
And will stop at nothing to make this life her last.

Established in 1919, Children’s Book Week is the longest-running literacy initiative in the country. Each year, books for young people and the joy of reading are feted for a full week with author and illustrator appearances, storytelling, parties, and other book-related events at schools, libraries, bookstores, museums, and homes from coast to coast!
The theme for this year's Children's Book Week is "books can take you anywhere". I remember my grandpa buying me the first non-picture books that really jump-started my imagination: Robinson Crusoe, Treasure Island, Swiss Family Robinson (hey, what was with the stranded on desert island motif? I may never know), Heidi, Little Women. I lived in a pretty modern but still third-world city on an island, and none of these books had anything to do with that. It's what I loved so much about them! They transported me to times and places I had never been and might never be. I hope you take this week to show a young person in your life how books can take you to worlds far away as well as help you journey into your own soul.
For our giveaway, you can win a picture, juvenile fiction, middle grade, or young adult book of your choice worth up to $15 from bookdepository.com. Good luck, and make sure you hit up all the other awesome blog giveaways!

Not sure if JM Colail's WES AND TOREN would be considered New Adult instead of YA (it involves high school seniors)...if it's unacceptable, I'll have to think about it for a while!
Hmmm. Tough question! There are so many books that I want. My TBR list is a mile long. I would have to sit and make a list to figure out which one I need right this minute!
Hmm. Good question. Well, I reserve the right change my mind (after all, there are SO many great ones out there and still to come!) but right now, I'd have to say DARE YOU TO by Katy McGarry. LOVED the first book; dying to read the second. Happy Children's Book Week everyone!
Please keep in mind that this post is early and most of the blogs will not have their post up until as late as 12:01 am on March 29 ET/9:01 pm on March 28 PT. Just keep checking the linky.

Oooh I could definitely find some awesome books to buy! At the moment I'm really feeling YA contemporary so my picks would be Saving June by Hannah Harrington and/or Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins.
For some reason this is coming under my son's FB name and however much I sign out of this ac it is not working. Anyway the book I would love to read is The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley.
I would really love to order Gothic Charm School: An Essential Guide for Goths and Those Who Love Them by Jillian Venters and Graphic Classics: Gothic Classics v. 14 :)
I'd probably go after a paperback copy of The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab and a paperback of The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith (providing that TBD has paperbacks of those), since they're cheaper than the hardbacks.
Wrecked from Shiloh Walker and few of harlequin's title. But I'll believe I'd check my wishlist first whenever you contact me. :D Amen to that. Thank you so much for the giveaway.
I'm reading the Outlander series and would love to read the next two books in the series for me: "A Breath of Snow and Ashes" and "An Echo in the Bone".
I would pick Llama Llama Time to Share and Monsters, Inc. Little Golden Book (Disney/Pixar Monsters, Inc.) (Little Golden Book) (Hardback) for my daughter
What a lovely giveaway! Thank you! I actually have most of the books you've mentioned on my wishlist. certainly I'd love to read Bruised, Cat Winters and Going Vintage :)
The next Karen Marie Moning book is on the top of my list this year! If there is any money left over...I don't know what I would do. There are so many books on my list.
From the list above, I would pick Going Vintage. But I really want the Raine Miller Blackstone books. Been waiting forever to read those!! Great giveaway!! Thanks1
I have entered your Hoppy Easter Eggstravaganza Giveaway Hop I would like to win a copy of Bruised by Sarah Skilton. Thank you for having this giveaway!!!!!!
Featuring young adult books with paranormal elements
Today we are giving away Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger.
From Goodreads:
It's one thing to learn to curtsy properly. It's quite another to learn to curtsy and throw a knife at the same time. Welcome to Finishing School.
Sophronia Temminnick at 14 is a great trial more interested in dismantling clocks and climbing trees than proper manners -- and the family can only hope that company never sees her atrocious curtsy. Her poor mother, desperate for her daughter to become a proper lady, enrolls the lively tomboy in Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality.
But young ladies learn to finish...everything. Certainly, they learn the fine arts of dance, dress, and etiquette, but they also learn to deal out death, diversion, and espionage -- in the politest possible ways, of course. Sophronia and her friends are in for a rousing first year's education.
If you're not entirely sure it has paranormal elements, consider this:
Aside: I recently won Gail Carriger's dress in an eBay auction. I can't wait to get it and hem it (she's a little taller than me) and probably take in the bust a bit. Ahem.

The Christmas Story....it's been a family Christmas tradition for as long as I can remember. Thanks for the giveaway. Happy holidays & Happy Reading in 2013!
Today you can win a copy of indie author Tammy Blackwell's book, Destiny Binds (Timber Wolves, Book 1). OR if you have already read Destiny Binds, you can have Time Mends (Timber Wolves, Book 2) instead.
The winner also gets to choose whether they get a paperback or Kindle copy.
Why did I pick Tammy Blackwell and her books to feature for the Indie Author Giveaway Hop?
She's a librarian.
Her books are laugh-out-loud funny!
Look at those covers. There are some "real" publishers whose covers aren't as good as these!
Seriously, even if you don't win my giveaway, if you love YA paranormal romance (and laughter) you should give these a go. The third book is due out later this year! You can find out more about Tammy at her blog, www.misstammywrites.com.
Remember to check out all the other great blogs on this hop for more chances to win!

Just trust me on this. It's really good.
If you're on Goodreads you can log in and read my "Poison Story" here, about how I got hooked on Maria V. Snyder's writing. I just read the Poison Study trilogy in April and loved it! I think Poison Study is my favorite and I wholeheartedly endorse your efforts to get Maria Snyder's books into more people's hands! (And that's why I won't enter the giveaway ... A new reader needs to win it.)
Thanks for this giveaway! I loved Poison Study :P I borrowed it from the library and I'd really like my own copy cause I liked it that much. With that being said though I want to try another Maria V. Snyder book as well! "/

I had a little celebration for myself yesterday by pre-ordering a few books that I've been dying to read, such as Shadows and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, Darkness before Dawn by J.A. London and The Selection by Kiera Cass!
Celebrating the same way I do every week...reading children's books. I'm reading The Little White Horse right now, which is a classic I missed when I was a kid.
I'm celebrating Children's Book Week with a week full of posts specifically catering to children's books, giveaways and special guests sharing their childhood reading memories and endeavors to expand the minds of children now. In other words...with the power of reading! ^_^ Thanks for the chance....and happy children's book week everyone!
I'm participating in this hop and I read all the time to my kids because I homeschool them so I guess every week would be a day of partcipation LOL.But this week I'm reviewing childrens books with my kids on my book blog
The only thing I am doing is participating in this blog hop, but at my former job we had a Scholastic Book Fair, RIF giveaways, and community helpers guest read each year.
Thanks for participating in the hop and for the giveaway opportunity.
I'm going to do some reading myself. =) And maybe recommend some books to my siblings. =) Thanks for the giveaway! ~Shelby http://gobsandgobsofbooks.blogspot.com/
I'm celebrating by sharing lots of books with my students. This is one of my favorite things to do. This week just gives me an excuse to do what I love to do anyway. I'm also trying to read a whole bunch of books this week, not that I'll ever catch up on my TBR list, but one can try. :)
I'm not really celebrating i guess? i have been busy with teacher appreciation week... I imagine they're probably doing something in the classroom with it but i haven't had anything come home about it. my kids do read to me but that's part of their homework everyday. :)
Celebrating this hop! Thanks for the giveaway! I am participating as well (#60 ~ Fairday's Blog!) Have a great night : ) ~ Jess http://thesecretdmsfilesoffairdaymorrow.blogspot.com/
I read to my daughter every night and she is just starting to learn to read herself. I am very exited about that. I want to raise her to be a book worm like her mommy. I have come across a couple of great new kiddies books that I will be adding to her book case this month.
by snatching my niece's books and reading them! Actually, it's re-reading. The books were mine (Enid Blyton's Famous Five!) - they were quite old and I gave the incomplete series to them just so I could introduce them to a world of reading. Re-reading the books are really nostalgic!
I'm going to buy a couple of books for my niece. She's turning into a TV hound with Max & Ruby cartoons and some other stuff on the Treehouse channel, so I want to see if I can counteract that.
I am celebrating by reading as much as possible. Literally, as much as possible! Also by entering some of the giveaways and spreading the word about the Hop. Thanks for participating in a great Hop!
we celebrate childrens books every day!! I love reading to my kids! They get two stories for nap time and two for bed time. Yah their spoiled lol but I love it just as much as they do!
Heartbroken over the tragic death of her fiancé, seventeen-year-old Zora Stewart leaves Baltimore for the frontier town of West Glory, Oklahoma, to help her young widowed aunt keep her homestead going. There she discovers that she possesses the astonishing ability to sense water under the parched earth. When her aunt hires her out as a "springsweet” to advise other settlers where to dig their wells, Zora feels the burden of holding the key to something so essential to survival in this unforgiving land. Even more, she finds herself longing for love the way the prairie thirsts for water. Maybe, in the wildness of the territories, Zora can finally move beyond simply surviving and start living.

My favorite fairytale right now is The Twelve Dancing Princesses, and my favorite character is the (often nameless) Prince. In some of the older variants he is "the old soldier". The story is about a dozen dancing princesses who are driving their father into penury by constantly wearing out a dozen pairs of shoes every night, to the point where the King has no choice but to lock them up in their bedroom at day's end. Still they somehow are able to wear out their shoes every evening. He offers the hand of any of his princesses to the man who figures out how they are doing this.
The old soldier or prince character, through a mixture of luck and cunning, is able to figure out that every night the girls disappear through a trap door which takes them to a Fairy Ball. They dance the night away and return worn out (shoes, too!) every morning. I love this fairytale even though it seems a bit senseless and without a lesson, because it gives other storytellers free license to imagine a bigger theme and character development, as well as romance, with the fairytale as the framework.
From Errol le Cain's 1978 adaptation of the tale (photo from Our Paper Moon)
Today you can win one of these Dancing Princess adaptations:

So actually the 12 dancing princesses is one of my favorite fairy tales and Princess of the Midnight Ball is probably my favorite retailing ever so I'm so excited that you have it as one of the options!!!
My favourite faerie tale is The Swineherd by Hans Christian Andersen . . . but it doesn't seem to have any retellings. (No wonder! It's one of the more depressing ones. LOL!)
I do like the six short retellings of Rumpelstiltskin that Vivian Vande Velde presents in The Rumpelstiltskin Problem. They're very playful, very different twists on the familiar story--but what I like best about them is that none of them are trying to be a "definitive" retelling. (That would be Disney-sized hubris, which I've learned to dislike in Disney adaptations.)
I have a lot of favourite fairytales...I kind of love 'em all (or most of them :P), but I do really love Snow White. I could say that my favourite retelling of Snow White is in Once Upon a Time...I just love how bad@ss she is in that show! I also really enjoyed Sidney White. It was a really interesting rendition of it. I don't think I've ever actually read a retelling of Snow White though...I seriously NEED to! haha Like Maidenveil though, I really enjoy Jackson Pearce's retellings. She does an amazing job at reinventing the tales, and also with connecting them. I'm really looking forward to her next book which is a retelling of The Little Mermaid, called Fathomless. :D
I've not read many retellings. But my favourite fairy tale is Beauty and the Beast and I really enjoyed Beastly. I liked how they used modern technology in the classic story. Really well done.
I have a lot of fairy tale stories which are of my favorites, such as Peter Pan (oh how I wish I could go to Neverland!), or Disney's Princess Anastasia (love the soundtrack!), plus Sophie and Howl from Howl's Moving Castle (I read the book and watched the movie! Fantastic!) As for favorite retelling, I honestly don't know, I haven't read many of them :D
My favourite fairytales were Sleeping Beauty and the Twelve Dancing Princesses. My favourite retelling would be Princess of the Midnight Ball and it's sequel, Princess of Glass! :)
I love the story of Beauty and Beast and lesson of beauty being only skin deep. My favorite retelling would have to be Beastly by Alex Finn it really gave you the POVs of both the Beast and the Beauty.
Thanks for a fabulous giveaway! I'm also a Little Mermaid fan. I remember seeing the Disney movie in theaters when I was 8? and was a mermaid from there on :)
My favorite fairy tale is the Little Mermaid. I haven't read many fairy tale retellings, but I do like Beauty by Robin McKinley. Thanks for the giveaway! :)
Thanks for the giveaway! My favorite tale to read is the "Six Swans," though my favorite retellings are those in the Once Upon a Time series and Juliet Marillier's Daughter of the Forest.
I love almost all fairy tales, but my most favorite is Beauty and the Beast. I have not read a retelling of that story that I did not love, there are way to many of them to name XD
I don't have just one favorite fairy tale. One of my favorites is Little Red Riding Hood and my favorite retelling so far isn't a book it's the show Once Upon a Time. It is seriously amazing!
I think my all-time favorite Fairytale is The Beauty & the Beast and Cinderella as a close second. I do not read many retellings yet, but I loved Beastly by Alex Flinn ^^
my favorite fairy tale is little red riding hood or hansel and gretel. my favorite retelling would be the on the tv show once upon a time. i love how they're retelling all of the old fairy tales and all in a world together.
My favorite fairytale is Beauty and the Beast - because it is not only about romance, but also about redemption, and not relying on outwards appearances. Although it is NOT a YA book, but a work of contemporary fiction, my favorite re-telling is in the form of a very unknown, yet fantastic book by author Neil M Campbell called "The Advent of Lena: A Tale of Beauty and the Beast". It is a beautifully written book, where the pages are turned, and the beauty lies with the man, but the real beauty of the novel is Lena. It is definitely worth a read.
Beauty & The Beast is my favorite fairy tale and my favorite retelling of it is probably Beastly by Alex Flinn. Actually all of her retellings are amazing.
Beauty & The Beast is my favorite fairy tale. I think I haven't read any fairy tale retelling yet but I like the blurb on Beastly. Definitely going to read that one.
Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairy tale. As for favorite retelling, I haven't read that kind of book till now. Hope I'll read Entwined. :) Thanks! :)
Well, I love Rumpelstiltskin ever since and I'm loving the show Once Upon a Time's take on it, with all the fracture fairytales and revisionist stories. :D
One of my old favorites is the Little Mermaid. My favorite retelling (so far, I haven't read many) is Tender Morsels by Margo Lanagan. It is a retelling of Snow White and Rose Red.
My favourite fairy tale is probably Beauty and the Beast. So far I have not had the chance to read any fairy tale retellings, so I'm really looking forward to the possibility to win in this wonderful giveaway:)
My favorite fairy-tale is The snow queen by Hans Christian Andersen, I don't know if are there a retelling about his fairy-tales but I love Beastly very much.
Sleeping Beauty. I loved the Disney movie with her pretty hair. I also just think it is an awesome story and I always felt kind of bad for the fairy who wasn't invited. Hurt her feelings. Thanks for the chance to win!
My favorite fairytale is East of the Sun and West of the Moon. The retelling is probably "East" by Edith Pattou, although "Ice" by Sarah Beth Durst and "Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow" by Jessica Day George are also amazing adaptations.
I love so many but Snow White, The Little Mermaid and Cinderella have always been my favourites. I'm reading Slumber right now which is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, I'm loving it so far!
Set on the island of Nantucket, STARCROSSED tells the tale of Helen Hamilton, a young woman whose destiny is forever altered when she meets Lucas Delos and tries to kill him in front of her entire high school. Which is terribly inconvenient, not only because Lucas is the most beautiful boy on the island, but also because Helen is so achingly shy she suffers physical pain whenever she is given too much attention.
Making matters worse, Helen is beginning to suspect she’s going crazy. Whenever she’s near Lucas or any member of his family she sees the ghostly apparitions of three women weeping bloody tears, and suffers the burden of an intense and irrational hate. She soon learns that she and Lucas are destined to play the leading roles in a Greek tragedy that the Three Fates insist on repeating over and over again throughout history. Like her namesake, Helen of Troy, she’s destined to start a war by falling in love. But even though Lucas and Helen can see their own star-crossed destiny, they’re still powerfully attracted to each other. Will they give up their personal happiness for the greater good, or risk it all to be together?

Wow, that was a long time ago. A little girl who came to visit her grandmother , who lived down the street from me, in the summertime. I think her name was Marlene. We were both about 8.
Well, it is a bit funny. When I was little I had a huge crush on Steve Martin....lol. Ha I still do....he is my old guy crush! Thanks for the giveaway :D GFC:aprildan01
I had a crush on my sister's friend's brother. Don't remember his name. We were both in kindergarten and lived in the same neighborhood. He thought I didn't like him because I never said anything to him, even when he tried to talk to me. But I was just painfully shy! lol :p
My first crush wow thats hard to remember, but I know in fifth grade I really like this boy who played basketball and I watched the guys plays with my friends. He eventually became my first boyfriend for two years and we are still friends to this day.
I had a crush on my brother's best friend for the longest time, like all through elementary school. His name was Ryan and he helped me perfect my cursive handwriting.
Oh geez, first crush...I feel like there was probably one in elementary school, but the first one I'm remembering a name for was eons ago in 6th grade, and it was a celeb crush: Elijah Wood, LOL!
My first crush was when I was in preschool. I always used to watch soap operas whenever my mom and I happened to be in the same right, so I was crushing hard on one of the characters!
Ha. I love the giveaway question! Thanks! My first crush was a boy in kindergarden. Now that I think of it, I think he used to cry all the time because he missed his mom. I must have thought that was sweet.
My first crush was a boy named Scott M. in 4th grade I think. It took a while for me to notice boys, but once I did I had crush after crush on different boys...
My first crush was my dads friend! I was 4 and he was about 30.... Needless to say it didn't work out ;) But I use to chase him around trying to kiss his cheek.
My first crush was my best friend in elementary. I crushed on him for a couple of years but I was a serious tomboy, in 6th grade he said he only liked me as a friend.
My first crush was my best friend in kindergarten, his name was Edwin:) He was so cute... I loved his eyes, I always told my mom that his eyes were really pretty because they were blue!
OMG is it funny that I still remember (HA). It was in elementry and my teacher had asked me to get somthing from the other teacher next door and I new he was in that class so I didn't want to go his name was Jeremy H. He even lived a street away from me (I wonder what ever happen to him)
My first crush was my best friend at the time. I think it was the first grade, his name was Michael. We were only friends until the 4th grade and then we drifted apart... I have no idea what happened to him lol. My first celebrity crush was Devon Sawa!!
Probably the first first first first one was this boy in second grade. It was really cute. I kissed him on the cheek once and he blushed about it. We held hands sometimes. But mostly, we played tag and pretended we were Animaniacs.
This hop features giveaways of Paranormal Young Adult Books (ghost, werewolves, vampires, zombies, etc.) There are over 100 Blogs each hosting a great giveaway so scroll to the bottom of this long post to see the linky list of all the participating blogs.
Today we're giving away one of the Hex Hall books by Rachel Hawkins. They are witchy-good novels with a loveable protagonist. I love Sophie and her cast of friends (and some of her enemies, or "enemies", too). Best of all, they balance grim, doom-filled plot with pretty darn funny dialogue.
The series started with Hex Hall and the second book, Demonglass. The next book, Spell Bound, comes out on Tuesday, March 13.
The winner gets to choose which one of the three books they get. For Spell Bound, it will be a pre-order. :)

Hi Alethea, rafflecopter wouldn't let me post the link to my tweet, so here it is https://twitter.com/#!/engelsigh/status/173525722277756928
Thank you for entering my giveaway. I'm also giving away a copy of book three, even though I really want it and haven't read it yet. Hoping to win it on your blog :)
Hi everyone, and welcome to the Hot Books Blog Hop! RNSL Nite Lite is hosting our very first blog hop and it is an 18+ hop. With Valentine's Day right around the corner, we figured we'd give you something to warm the bed at night.
This hop runs from Feb 3-10, 2012 and signups for it will remain OPEN during the duration of the hop. We'd like to give everyone the chance to participate and are allowing signups even after the hop starts. So please tell your friends.
Up for grabs are some awesome, but slightly risqué YA books. I will pick two winners, and those winners each get to choose a book!
Ondine and The Autumn Palace by Ebony McKenna: So, a handsome prince is transformed into a ferret, and when that happens, his clothes tend to get (in)conveniently left behind...
R.A. Nelson's Throat: Don't worry, this isn't Twilight... Emma could rip Bella a new one--not that she would want to. She's a good girl, just a little... troubled.
Woo! I love hot books. Hot YA is so hard to find though, I feel like the field is dominated by the prude mafia. Vampire Academy is pretty hot. WAKE was hot. That's about it.
i have a few. ;-) i have dearly departed (i LOVE the cover and havent had a chance to read the book yet) and night circus. i have fracture, everneath, wither, under the never sky, tempest, all these things i've done, shattered souls. i have more but those are my more recent books and the ones i havent had a chance to read yet.
Right now I don't have any hot YA books. I haven't read any as of yet. But I've seen some fantastic reviews for some YA that I have added to my list. luvfuzzzeeefaces at yahoo dot com
I actually don't have any but my daughter is reading a lot of them right now. I'm entering to win Swoon/Swear for her. She's finishing Mrs. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children right now and is into books like Wake, Fade, Hunger Games series and is getting ready to read the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.
Hot and YA are completely subjective in my mind. However for these purposes I am going with Going too Far by Jennifer Echols. That can be followed by Anna and the French Kiss. There a couple of scenes in there that I would definitely classify as hot.
I guess if I had to classify by hot YA, I would go with Untraceable by s.R. Johannes. Most of my YA is not exactly hot since I have to be able to read them in the classroom!
Excellent giveaway! How exciting! I would love to win- so thanks for offering this one. I don't know if I have any hot YA on my shelf- I have the Hunger Games series and Twilight- so I guess those would be mine!
~Jess haightjess at gmail dot com https://twitter.com/#!/dmsfiles/status/166219017328144384
The hottest YA book on my shelf would probably have to be Unnatural by Michael Griffo. I personally have not read it yet, but I have heard and read things that lead me to believe that this book will definitely be very very "interesting". ;)
My co-bloggers Thuy (RNSL Nite Lite) and Kimberly (The Windy Pages) and I all agree -- book banning is the pits! While we understand and respect parents' concerns about what their kids encounter in their lives, we believe in everyone's "freadom" to read and enjoy whatever they want.
Speaking for just myself (my co-bloggers will chime in throughout the week) reading about "objectionable" things doesn't necessarily mean the reader becomes a bad person. There's a lot of nature and nurture that shapes a person's thoughts and actions, so I think laying the blame on "bad" books is a poor job of scapegoating. I believe reading expands the mind and helps to show us perspectives about our crazy world that we might not have discovered on our own. I also believe that reading is a safe way to help people form a mental scale for right vs. wrong and good vs. evil without putting themselves in the peril that books' heroes and heroines often find themselves facing. Most of all, I believe in the reader's right to choose what to read and what not to read--and that with some guidance, kids can learn to make the reading choices that are best for themselves.
To celebrate Banned Books Week, we will be posting themed reviews and articles throughout the week and giving away a banned juvenile book to a lucky reader in the US or Canada! See the Rafflecopter widget below for the details. Please DO NOT leave personal info in the comments section--the Rafflecopter widget will collect your contact info so we can tell you if you have won.
The winner gets to choose their book prize (within the guidelines stated below) and will be notified by email through Rafflecopter. Our sister-site Nite Lite will be doing the same (but you can win an adult book instead).
Here are some banned book reading suggestions from the RNSL team. Clicking on the book cover will take you to the Goodreads page for each book.

Everyone is telling me to read The Hunger Games (especially middle schoolers), so I would love to win that to see what all the fuss is about. rickimc[at]aol[dot]com
I want to read The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It's been on and off the top ten most challenged list for the past ten years, and a lot of people have recommended it to me as one of their favorite books from middle and high school.
I would love to read The Marbury Lens by Andrew Smith or The Giver by Lois Lowry, those are the two books I've been meaning to read for some time now, but never gotten around to =) Thank you for hosting this giveaway and being a part of the Banned Books Week Hop!!

Just letting you know that I accidentally put my name, not my email address in the form the first time. So I entered a 2nd time with my email. So you can delete my first entry, if possible!
Thank you so much for participating in this giveaway hop. I do not see a comment here from me, which is how I keep track of entering a giveaway - so I doing it now. I had problems with the browser thingy the other day, so if this is duplicate I apologize. However, I do thank you for the fun!
My blurb for Ondine: Girl meets ferret. Ferret speaks with Scottish accent. Hilarity ensues!
Really, Kimberly and I just about peed our pants laughing. Ondine is SO funny... I will be quoting jokes (particularly footnotes) forever.
By the way, there is a sequel to Ondine: The Autumn Palace. Also very funny and I can't wait to read more (please, Egmont UK, tell me there's more coming!)
If you have already won a prize from me this year, you're out of the running--let someone else win! XD
