Created by marine biologist-turned-animator Stephen Hillenburg in 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants is one of Nickelodeon’s most popular and longest running television shows. The upcoming group art show, “Nautical Nonsense: A Tribute to SpongeBob SquarePants,” will feature artistic interpretations from an eclectic roster of animation artists, illustrators, and cartoonists.
The show’s opening reception will be tomorrow night—Saturday, July 27—from 7-11pm at Gallery Nucleus in the LA suburb of Alhambra (210 East Main St). Admission is $5, and the event will include costumed characters from the show, a scavenger hunt and raffle prizes.

Pixar storyboard artist Bill Presing will unveil his new pin-up calendar Horoscope Honeys tonight, June 29th, at Gallery Nucleus (210 East Main St, Alhambra, CA 91801). Presing will be in attendance to sign the calendars. All thirteen original paintings featured in the calendar will be exhibited and available for purchase.
Gallery Nucleus is actually holding a dual-opening reception on Saturday. In addition to Presing’s show, they will also host the opening of the group art show “Yesterday’s Tomorrow.” The opening receptions for both shows run between 7-10pm. For more details, visit GalleyNucleus.com.

Alhambra, CA–Gallery Nucleus, Joey Chou and Disney Press are delighted to present “It’s A Small World”, a group exhibition featuring an impressive collection of works created by 45 artists paying homage to this iconic Disney Park attraction, just in time to honor its 45th anniversary.
This exhibit celebrates both the release of artist/illustrator Joey Chou’s latest children’s book by Disney Press, as well as the enduring theme of world peace and international unity that the original Sherman Brothers song and beloved Disney Park boat ride have embraced for almost half a century.
The book features the lyrics of “It’s A Small World (after all)”, accompanied by Chou’s vibrant illustrations that give a modern and playful spin to this 45 year old classic while staying true to its original message. Joey Chou will be present on opening night, along with several of the exhibiting artists, for a meet-and-greet/book signing.
Opening Night Highlights:
- Raffle prizes, including a signed copy of Joey’s book.

On May 14th, Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles will be presenting East to West Flash Trip, a story about the exciting adventures of a boy and his dog, told through a series of lighthearted, colorful gouache paintings by artist Becky Dreistadt and Disney's Lorelay Bove. This exhibit will also feature one piece the Gallery is anxiously awaiting; a collaborative painting the two artists are currently in the process of creating.
Opening Reception:
Saturday, May 14, 7 to 11 pm
Artists in attendance. Raffle Giveaway. Complimentary Refreshments. Free admission.
