1. Turkish Delights: Ornamentation and Pattern Inspiration

I'm on a special holiday in Turkey, celebrating my father's 80th birthday, in the beautiful city of Istanbul. Walking down the wide avenues and into history, one of the first things I noticed of course (once I'd recovered from the overwhelming gloriousness of it all) was the ornamentation - patterns galore everywhere I looked; and colour, decorative ornamentation, flowers ... patterns patterns patterns.

I've only managed to post a few of my photographic captures here, hoping that they'll inspire you as well ... my creative soul is dancing with delight in this country. I shall have to visit again one day, for longer than one too-short week.

I've barely had time to breathe never mind draw anything, but have tons of ideas to work on once when I get back on Monday. I'll be posting pics of the city itself as well soon, and more ... meanwhile, you'll have to forgive me if things are a bit erratic in here for ... well, for a while yet.

Wishing you a glorious week. Cheers from Istanbul.

2. Illustration Friday: secret

this little bunny hops out at me whenever I run past a certain spot in the woods. He won't come too close, but he doesn't seem very shy either. He lives very along the path surrounding a large subdivision, so his home must be pretty "secret".

4. Trend shopping on a beautiful spring day

Happy Spring! Spring has sprung here in Boston and Saturday was a great day for my hubby and I to go out and enjoy the day. For me, the day was double-duty, serving as both a "date day" with my hubby as well as a trip to go "trend shopping" and see what colors and motifs are hot right now. It's fun!

I am a chocoholic and have never tried the Teuscher brand of chocolate, even though I've walked by their Newbury Street store many a time. This time, we went in. The window displays were so pretty, and I just love to see what the chocolate companies come up with to market their chocolate for one of chocolates biggest holidays, Easter, which is right around the corner!

See what the store looked like on entering. A beautiful wonderland of bright colors, paper art and chocolate!

Check out some of these lovely, colorful packaged gifts, ready for the kiddies and adults alike to enjoy on Easter Sunday!

6. Still here

I'm still here.

I check my blog every day to see if I made a new post. It's been so long, I think... this girl really needs to get on the stick. This blog is getting dusty.

Then I remember "OH YEAH... IT'S MY BLOG".

Life is slowly returning to a new kind of normal now. I am not even remotely there with finding a regular schedule for freelance and other art projects. But I DID turn on my computer in my studio today. And I AM contemplating restarting some goal-oriented projects I was busily working on before my mom had her stroke. So you could say I am definitely making some progress on making some progress.

Here is one of the many drawings I made while in the hospital the first week after my mother's stroke.

9. Painting for fun

\
I’ve been doing some paintings, just to creatively ‘loosen up’ a little.
Here is one of the pieces. This also has a companion piece which I will post at a later date! Hope you enjoy the work!

10. "V-Day" is right around the corner...

Valentine's day is coming up...I know, I know. I'm not a fan of the unnecessary pressure that the holidays' arrival tends to bring out in some either... But, I AM a big fan of creating ornamental and decorative art, and... I AM a huge fan of symbols of all kinds, and, well...I DO love pink... soooo, I guess you can sort of understand my *aesthetic* appreciation of Valentine's Day. It is a FUN holiday to do artwork for!! :) Yay for hearts, swirlies, and X's and O's!! (...and, besides all of that, I really don't mind a holiday centered around chocolate.)

For those that may have a slight tendency to break out in hives or a cold sweat, and possibly feel a primal urge to quickly locate an underground bunker and hole up til the storm passes, here's a newsflash-- you got 13 days until V-Day. If the all-media marketing push hasn't hit you *yet*, it's only a matter of time, so hurry to the store for some canned goods, candles, batteries and bottled water... ;)

11. Illustration Friday: Tales & Legends

Here's a fine young reindeer from Santa Claus's crew -- it's Cupid! enjoy!

Hey, where have I been?? I 'fell off' my blog. There is no other way to put it. And certainly there's no *pretty* way to put it. It's sort of like falling off a cliff, but there's no cliff...anyway, here I am, and I am happy to be here!!! I've missed posting the past couple of weeks!!

12. Off to a roaring good start!!!

We were just about to sit down and post a little letter of explanation--

We wanted to tell you a bit about how this blog will work, how we'll be SUPER organized, allotting exactly one week to the launch of each new book (so that everyone gets their moment in the sun). We wanted to describe how we plan to follow a careful outline, beginning each launch week with a Monday "virtual release party" and proceeding with a tell-all author interview, followed by cool posts that include ridiculous pictures, deep dark secrets, and games and contests...

But then Lisa Schroeder did this cool interview over at Authorlink. So even though she isn't "scheduled" for another two weeks, we're blogging her today

Just a little extra sumpin sumpin for Lisa, and her book, I Heart You, You Haunt Me.

Go LISA!

(Oh, and in other news, we got a few new links! From Beatrice, Becky's Book Reviews, Hip Writer Mama Thanks, guys!!!)
