1. Happy Hunger Games to All!

What a party! "Best party ever!" is what the 5th and 6th graders are reporting back to their teachers! Today during lunch, we celebrated the release of the Hunger Games movie! This was a very exclusive party. If you wanted to attend, you had to take a HG quiz and score 80% or better. If you got in, you received a very rare Panem Lottery Ticket to gain entry:

KAtniss ready to meet her guests

I wonder what Haymitch is sending us?

The attendees enjoyed some delicacies:

Homemade cupcakes! I used chocolate and piped it onto parchment paper in the shape of the Mockingjay

Cinnamon Jolly Ranchers

3. YA Wednesday: Books to Satisfy Your Hunger Games Appetite

With The Hunger Games movie two weeks and a day away, buzz abounds. Last week, a clip of Katniss showing the Capitol's gamemakers what's what made the rounds on the 'net, and author Suzanne Collins posted her review of the film. Collins wrote, "Director Gary Ross has created an adaptation that is faithful in both narrative and theme, but he’s also brought a rich and powerful vision of Panem, its brutality and excesses, to the film as well. His world building’s fantastic, whether it be the Seam or the Capitol."

If all this buzz has made you, well, hungry for more teen dystopia, there's a book to tie you over. Really, we have a whole list of them. Instead of re-reading The Hunger Games series (again) as you patiently count down the minutes to the movie (22,360 minutes, not that I'm counting--ehem), check out Delirium, the first book in Lauren Oliver's series, or Divergent, the first book in Veronica Roth's series.

4. Hunger Games movie merchandise store to sell official products AND fan designed

Did you know there’s going to be a new store (on CafePress) selling HUNGER GAMES movie products (Based on the book, of course!)? Lionsgate and CafePress partnered together to create it, and it launches Tuesday, February 21. What I find so interesting and kind of cool is that the store will sell both officially licensed film merchandise AND fan-created designs. Fans will also have a chance to create a free District ID Card through a new exclusive Hunger Games Facebook app which can also be accessed in the CafePress shop. Fans that register for an ID card through the app can claim a physical ID card that shows their district and job assignment. Existing “citizens of Panem” can also claim their free The Hunger Games ID card (though you have to pay a shipping fee) through the app.

The Hunger Games movie releases March 23, 2012.

I loved the Hunger Games so much that I mentioned it in HUNTED.
