1. Still Feels Like Winter Out

Gah! It STILL feels like Winter out there. Last year it was about 25 at this time.

Oh well.

I had intended on selling some prints today but I'm having Paypal issues so you get a bat drawing instead.

2. Hall Of Bat Monuments

A scene from Maddy Kettle showing some of the mysterious things you'll find in caves. Especially in the desert. Julie and I are both fighting some sort of cold thatHenry probably brought home from daycare. It seems to be a particularly lazy virus, as the symptoms are pretty mild. I'll just throw a blanket over myself and work all day. I'm working on a book cover today, which is going really well.

3. Vampire Bats!

A scene in pencils from Maddy Kettle. I think there's about eighty bats here. It should take forever to ink but it'll be worth it. I've been looking forward to drawing this scene.

Working on a book cover today, I have about a week of non Maddy related work ahead of me. Which is fine, I like to be able to switch between projects.

7. The Comic Shop

Wow! Sales of Flying Boat minicomics have totally bowled me over. I've made more in the first week selling these minis then I did the first week of sales for my first picture book. The money is mostly spent, being put back into the shop for new stuff to nsell and new promotional stuff. I can't wait to see the Inky the bat buttons! Thanks so much everyone for your support. Things are silent on the publisher/agent front after some early positive signs. I'm just waiting now.

8. Stinkbug Blues

Here's a very short story from the world of Harry and Silvio. I'm going to leave this up for a few days until I'm ready to start selling the new minis. This story will be in issue 3.

10. Tourist

I've finished up two proposals as of last night and it feels great. I've already received positive responses for both. My cousin Gary and his very pregnant wife Stephanie are visiting from Montreal so today I get to play tourist. Can't wait to see some stuff in Toronto I just haven't had the time to explore. And tomorrow is word on the street which is always fun. Above is a panel from the second Harry and Silvio comic, The Girl With The Purple Boat.

11. The Cloud Map

This is the title page from The Cloud Map, the third Harry and Silvio story which I finished late last week. I wish I could publish it here, but I'll wait til I here from the publishers. It's the best story so far and establishes a bunch of new things. Inky is introduced, the world of clouds expands a bit,the idea that Harry and Silvio are cloud map makers is introduced and the Goblin Gang tries to steal the cloud map which might be an ongoing theme. I've started work on the fourth story The Haunted Cloud Castle which will be longer and explore some new stuff. More Miyazaki and Moomin influence in the new story.
At the moment I'm working on a commissioned ink drawing for a local business. I'm taking it pretty slow right now. I'm finding that the minimal sleep that occurs from being a new dad really catches up to you. I spent a lot of the weekend reading and watching TV. I'm becoming addicted to the Clone Wars TV show. Am I the only one who thinks the animation is really cool?
So, I plan to start publishing Harry and Silvio comics as minicomics as soon as story number four is done.More on that later.
