I totally agree with you! The writers have always said from the beginning that the show is about the people (not the island). If they would have left a bunch of loose ends with the characters, then I would have been dissapointed, but they didn't. The people who got too wrapped up in the island aspect of the show are the ones who are dissapointed.

Great thoughts. I agree, one of the strengths of the show was HOW they told the story, moving back and forth in time and space. With all of the time travel, multi-dimensions and dozens of characters, it's actually pretty amazing that it made as made as much sense as it did.

I think many of us were expecting all questions to be answered because the final season was promoted that way (they literally said "all your questions will be answered.") Personally, I don't mind leaving some things up to the imagination, because it makes me think. And I liked the finale even though they didn't tie up every loose thread.

I am a big fan of the show too. And I loved the music in it. I'll probably end up with the soundtrack. You could never guess where the show was going. It was never predictable. It just kept unfolding week by week and each episode left me saying, "Wha...?!"

I enjoyed the end as I was watching it... but the more I think about it now, the more I wish some things had been explained a bit more.

Like the numbers. That was a big deal with me. They appeared everywhere at the beginning. Won Hurley the lottery... appeared on the Hatch. Had to be entered into the computer or the world would end. The explanation that they were just numbers of possible candidates doesn't quite satisfy me. They had been made out to be a much bigger deal.

And how did Jacob get off the island to touch all those people? And who was guarding the island while he was off doing that? It was kind of a big deal for him to be there to protect the island.

I have the feeling that there were some ideas about how everything worked from the beginning, but the writers had too much fun writing things that they could never really explain.

I don't need everything explained, that's not necessary, but there were some important points that I think they glossed over.

Anyway... it was a fun ride while it lasted! I don't think we will see another show of that quality for a long time...

I was a LOST fan, too, but I'm afraid I would fall into the second camp (deeply disappointed with the outcome, handling of the storyline, etc., etc), and, like you (but from the other side), it's hard for me to see how others were okay with it. I won't expound on the why's here, or poo-poo the opinions of those who feel differently as that's life; we look at things differently. I will agree, however, that it was a GOOD show and a thrill to watch (up until the last few episodes--IMHO). Thanks for sharing!

I am a LOST fan too. At first I had to get used to the way the story was told, but after a few episodes it 'got' me and I wanted to know what was gonna happen next.

Agreed, one of the best shows of all time, and hopefully will spawn a new style of tv show. It really left you wanting more each week and at the shows end it felt as though you were family along with the cast. I thought the ending was great and that they answered all the questions that needed answering. I totally agree with you and I really hope there will be other shows to come that are similar.

Shonna- true the writers have said that. And I believe they are right but on the other hand I think the plot plays a big role in this show. This is not the typical tv drama where is obvious characters are the more important thing.

I think if the island is a character itself, then the plot is important. And I think they did carry that out very well actually.


Hi John! Yes, the way they told the story is a big plus. I think they did a pretty good job answering the island's questions that were linked to the characters. What happened to the previous inhabitants of the island before Oceanic 815? We don't know but we do know what happened to the Oceanic 815 passengers and that is why I think it works.

Dough- yes! It wasn't predictable at all.. and that was wonderful.

About the numbers, I think they might of gone a tad over board with them. Hurley played them because he heard them from Leonard, think that was his name. They turned out to be also the numbers of the code that needed to be entered every 108 minutes. Also they are the numbers (degree) of each candidate on the lighthouse. But most importantly they make the Valenzetti Equation, a mathematical formula designed to predict the end of humanity. Why all this? I don't know really. Sometimes life is filled with coincidences like these. Numerology exists and is a big thing. But I do I think the numbers made things interesting in the show.

You are right, we don't know how Jacob left the island to touch all the candidates. But that is not a big question for me. That is just a detail. If we were talking of "real and everyday ordinary people" here I would be asking those questions. But truth is we are not. Jacob doesn't age. He has powers. He is no regular guy.

What I'm trying to say is that although they didn't answer that question, that wasn't really even a question for me.

But I know we are all different. And if lot's of people were left needing those answers maybe they should of addressed them at some point. I think the DVD will surely come out filled with answers. :o)



Hi Paula! I know.. not everybody has the same taste and we are certainly entitled to our own opinion. I am a devoted fan but my hubby gave up on the show a long time ago. So surely it isn't a show for everybody. Thanks for not booing me though, LOL. :o)
