1. Monkeying Around...

I spent days drawing monkeys - with the consequence that when I went out to the market shopping - yes, I looked at people and saw monkeys - especially guys with beards. The inevitable parallels all get immediately drawn. I felt kind of bad about it, coming to that conclusion but don't hold myself to blame personally. Anyhow, nowadays on NOVA on PBS they openly refer to our kind as primates - cuz we are! lol! (insert chimp laugh here - like Cheeta on Tarzan - and why did Tarzan name his monkey Cheeta?)

2. A new picture book!

Here's the cover of my latest picture book. It's about a fire dog and takes place in a fire house.  I've always wanted to do a fire house book.

There's a big slurpy doggy kiss on the cover. I like how the cover typography came out. I also like fire engines, but red is a difficult color to do because it just gets too red!

A snippet of news

Woot! I finished painting the picture book for Marshall Cavendish. Above is a tiny snippet from it. As soon as I know when it is getting published, I will show you more.

Time for a bit of relaxation.I am spending the day with my son, which I have not been able to do for ages. I see sushi and badminton in our future, followed by a movie and banana bread.

I am also looking forward to having some time to experiment with art materials, participating in Illustration Friday again(yay!)and getting back to some sewing. Woot! Woot!
