The ongoing legal battle over the trademark of the term "comic-con" between The San Diego Comic-Con (or to give it it's official name: Comic-Con International: San Diego) and the Salt Lake Comic Con flared up a bit yesterday when the SLC group claimed a win by being granted a trademark:

48 records under “Comic Con”.
Registered:
Denver Comic Con
Salt Lake Comic Con
Jekyll (in Georgia?)
Bronx Heroes Comic Con (also in litigation? over “superheroes”)
Anaheim (via CCI)
BTW, regarding attendance:

Los Angeles Convention Center
Anime Expo
“This year’s unique attendance to Anime Expo was counted at over 90,500, an increase of 10,500 attendees from last year, marking a 12% growth over 2014. Overall turnstile attendance exceeded 260,700, marking an increase from last year of 40,700, representing 18% growth over 2014.”
So, the way I read this is that the CCI folk can’t stop the Salt Lake City guys from using Salt Lake Comic Con; however, CCI could also put on Comic-Con International: Salt Lake City.
