How to use this Page
You are viewing the most recent posts tagged with the words: wacom table in the JacketFlap blog reader. What is a tag? Think of a tag as a keyword or category label. Tags can both help you find posts on JacketFlap.com as well as provide an easy way for you to "remember" and classify posts for later recall. Try adding a tag yourself by clicking "Add a tag" below a post's header. Scroll down through the list of Recent Posts in the left column and click on a post title that sounds interesting. You can view all posts from a specific blog by clicking the Blog name in the right column, or you can click a 'More Posts from this Blog' link in any individual post.
Here are my first two tablet sketches, both freehand. The bottom one was my first go and the picture of Mady on top was second. I like them but they are pretty rough. I used the pen tool, which looks more like ink scraped on paper rather than the brush tool which is smoother, more like a felt tipped pen.
My friend
Drazen Kozjan very generously let me come over to try out his
Cintiq and boy, what a fun tool. This is my first ever doodle on the device. It's very intuitive, not a huge learning curve. The one thing that takes a bit of adjusting is that the screen feels like it's between you and the drawing, so the pen tip is always slightly off from where you're drawing. This is somethng you get used to pretty fast, though.
I'm considering inking with the Cintiq in the future after running into number of inking problems on my last book. Drazen also lent me a
Wacom Tablet, so I'm spending some time practicing my digital inking, seeing how close I can get it to traditional.
And, if you're interested the Advertising Week blog did an interview with me. You can read it
here.
I like the top one, more subtle than the bottom one. Keep up the experimentation, I really need the lessons!
Thanks Fearless! You know me, a compulsive sharer of pictures.
I like them... the character looks nice, even when it is rough. :")
Thanks Lenival! Sometimes a bit rough is OK.
I like the scratchy look of the top maddie drawing better than the drawing you posted on the 25th, though both are good.
I love Mady. i'd like to sit on the grass and chat with her. jx
Thanks Theodore!
Thanks Jen! Working on her comic right now.
