The Ka Iwi coastline has always held a special place in Muffin's heart. Join her as she takes readers of all ages plus her pal Reggae Muff along the winding trail to the lighthouse of Makapu'u. The scenery is beautiful, and the area is rich in history and legend. Keoki, Hawaii's only known seagull, makes an appearance, adding comic relief. Once again, the three friends must work togther to overcome certain danger. The lighthouse is not shining, and there is a boat about to crash upon the rocks. Meanwhile, a mystery involving Madame Pele unfolds right in Reggae Muff's lap. Who is the old woman who appears in Reggae's hour of need? Is it Pele? And, if so, how does she fit into the story. It's up to Muffin to unravel these and other questions. This is a job only the Canine Ambassador of the Aloha Spirit can do. A list of Hawaiian words used in the story appears at the end, as well as recipies for a few simple, healthy, and very tasty snacks.
