Sorry for the long pause, and the two or three days of there being nothing here. As if the hacking weren’t enough, my domain name expired with no warning, which led to the discovery of a big ol’ hosting account debacle. Thankfully, my web hosting company has great technical support, and all seems to be well again.
In better news, there have been a few examples lately of what an awesomely small world it is. The weekend before last I went home for a high school friend’s wedding, which was beautiful, and a fun, strange, nostalgic experience. I was the only high school person there, but my friend did a fantastic job with the seating arrangement, and my boyfriend and I wound up spending much of the night with Minh of Bottom Shelf Books (and the unnecessary sequels contest) fame. If you haven’t read his blog yet, you really need to. It was wonderful to meet a fellow kidlit enthusiast (and blogger and writer), and he and his wife are both pretty fantastic.
This past weekend, I was at a birthday celebration for a friend in Queens and met someone who works for Tor. After a few minutes of talking, we realized that she had been in touch with my friend’s agent about the book he just submitted there. She’s already sent me job openings, and hopefully we’ll be hanging out again soon
I love that these things happen.
