With all the horrible news coming at us at every angle, it's difficult not to get caught up in a tailspin of negative thoughts. Be kind to yourself and those in your life by taking the opportunity each and every day to latch onto the positives in your life with gratitude.
Daily journal writing can set the tone for a day of gratitude and abundance. Don't think you have anything to write out, think again. Concerned your writing won't flow, don't worry. Your journal writing is for your eyes only.
Start your journal session with at least three positive aspects of your life. Write about what makes each one so wonderful and how you are grateful for each, no matter how small or big. Did you know that every small blessing turns into a chock full day of inspiration and gratitude?

Check out this article by Anya Strzemien at The Huffington Post, which is collecting comments for a good cause. Simply give yourself a compliment! For every comment up to 5,000, the Huffington Post Media Group will donate $1 to Girls Inc. I pointed readergirlz diva Melissa Walker to the article and she immediately posted about it at I Heart Daily. As Melissa said, "How cool is that?"
I told my friend Amber Benson about it as well, and she tweeted: "Say something positive about yourself and help raise some money for Girls Inc - JUST DO IT!"
Go to the Huffington Post website and leave your comments by April 10th! Then post, tweet, et cetera, and encourage others to do the same.
Quick aside: I did an internet radio show recently to help promote my new series GHOST HUNTRESS and talk about ghost hunting. Please click here to go to Toginet.com and download the podcast.
I've never been one to blog about my toils, troubles, or personal problems, and I'm not about to start now...other than to say I received some news on Wednesday of a challenging nature that has me focusing on the positive and not dwelling on stupid, petty, ridiculous things that mean nothing in the grand scope of things.
On Thursday, my boss sent this out to our sales team here at work as incentive to them during these tough economic times. However, I think it's a great, overall message to share with everyone, and I hope our readers get something positive out of it:

DEFINITION OF SUCCESS
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To endure the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you lived.
This is to have succeeded.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Pretty cool, huh? I know that each of these lines means something to me and I hope it does to you, too. What have you done today to succeed?
Have a wonderful Saturday full of light, hope, and love.

GHOST HUNTRESS SERIES (Coming May 2009, Houghton Mifflin)
I'm on my way! Success is right around the corner! I just won the respect of an inteligent mother and the affection of a little child by finding them the "perfect" books. The little girl was tickled pink with the "Pirate Pete" series by Kim Kennedy. (Sorry Ladies, she was alittle young to be steered towards any "Buzz Girl" books)
I also had a little joke telling session with the circulation staff as well. Maybe these will bring a smile or groan.
Q: What's the difference between Inlaws and Outlaws?
A: Outlaws are wanted.
Q: What do you call a ukulele player with a pager?
A: An optimist.
5 peanut were walking down a dark alley and one was "a salted".
Wonderful, Marley! I'm sort of the eternal optimist, always looking for lessons in the bad stuff, and a way to turn it into a joke (which sometimes is only funny to me, but what can you do?)
Today I am going to attend the wedding of two truly lovely and inspiring people, so I can honestly say my day will be filled with light, hope and love.
And Chuck--I enjoyed your jokes!
Wonderful post Marley and much appreciated. I don't know what I've done today I guess just my normal best for my family to show them how much I love them. Today it was wall patching and paint touch ups in my kid's rooms. Not very glamorous, but done with love.
What a wonderful post, Marley! thanks for posting such inspirational verses. And cool on the Ghost interview!! It must have been super fun.
xo,
Heath
