Here is a collection of my Instagram photos, updated daily. I am afraid you will have to click on the photo to go to Instagram to read the haiku. Unless I find a photo editor that works on my iPod and figure out how to put the haiku directly onto the image, that is. Anyone help with that? If you are using Instagram and know how to do it can you share? <!-- SnapWidget -->

I am continuing to post haiga on my Instagram account every day in April, as an exercise for National Poetry Month. The whole collection is gathered here on this post. You can follow me on Twitter or Instagram also. I am experimenting with using Phonto and the Flickr photo editor Aviary to add text so the haiku is directly on the photo. So far I like what I am getting. I wish my iPod

Happy April Happy Spring Happy Poetry Month!! In years past I have used this space to post daily haiku and photos all through April. This year I am not going to use the blog to do it. I feel the need to change things up and be more mobile. I want to use my iPod touch to take photos and post haiku on Twitter. I am finding several hashtags in use today, the first day of National Poetry

wet snow just enough to show lines erased by sun -Andromeda Jazmon We had a lovely snow the other night; softly falling all through the dark. Woke up to a couple inches of pure powder stuck to every twig and line. By the time I was driving to work the sun was brilliantly about her work melting everything into a world of drips and drops. On the way home I saw it was mostly gone, soaked into

autumn fires the trees above a dim sluggish creek; mud snake seeking sun -Andromeda Jazmon Last weekend we took a walk down the valley of a large city park. An ancient creek winds its way below the trees, completely hidden from the rest of urban life. We discovered salamanders under the leaves, spiders spinning across the trail, curious little bugs crawling on the rocks, and this brown

to save the garden I prune the honeysuckle; mourning the lost scent -Andromeda Jazmon I am struggling lately with some very difficult and painful times in my family. Somehow this picture speaks to the deep sadness and loss. Poetry and photography is a comfort. Today's Friday Poetry round up is with Marjorie at Paper Tigers.

Many years ago I was in China teaching English and had the opportunity to travel around the country. I found these 2" clay figures, or "mud men" as they are called sometimes, in a dusty little shop in Tianjin. The art form goes back to the 19th century, when they were made for bonsai and miniature gardens. I am enchanted by the expressions on these gentlemen's faces. Their conversation, whether

quiet waters; brilliant autumn colors gathered shadows -Andromeda Jazmon This weekend it is cold and rainy, but last weekend was brilliant sunshine. The leaves were at their peek and we had a glorious afternoon in the woods. I hope you find some of this light to bask in around your way. Check out the Friday Poetry round up hosted by JoAnn at Teaching Authors.

washing his bike before the big parade; he whistles Sousa -Andromeda Jazmon My son Buddy is approaching 8 years old and taking on a love of doing chores around the house and yard. Here he is cleaning his beloved bike that he rides up and down the street every available moment. He is such a great kid! With my oldest son in Air Force Basic Training this holiday I am feeling a whole new

spent, empty dandelion seed bed - itself a flower ...-Andromeda Jazmon This is what it looks like after a dandelion's seeds have all blown. That far flung emptiness is speaking to me today, at the end of a long month of outpouring poetry, at the end of a semester and a school year that has been both challenging and rewarding. Spent, depleted, but drenched with blessings... it's enough to have

twist ties topping the garden fence; catching raindrops ...-Andromeda Jazmon This fence that wraps around my backyard has seen some struggles & survived some pounding. As the boys arelearning to ride bikes, scooters and skates they continually crash into it. It's bent out of shape and has to be closed with a piece of rope. I have tried to get it repaired but so far have not found the right

the first time it rained on these open leaves; learning to dance ...-Andromeda Jazmon risen before the ruby rose can bloom; shocking red thorns ...-Andromeda Jazmon It rained a lot the last couple days and I grabbed a few minutes in the morning to take photos. These new leaves have only been open a week or so; this is their very first rain shower. They're babies. By the end of summer they
Not used Instagram looks fun. Love the cereal haiku.
Great idea, Andi! Thanks for sharing. Happy haiku-ing!
Your African violets clearly LOVE their windowsill. Thanks for sharing these neat Instagram/haiku pairings!
I do use Instagram, but not like this, Andi. These are terrific! I like the Cheerios!
What a great idea. I love seeing the haiku right on the image. Thanks for sharing. <br />
Wow, very cool! And then you can post it on Facebook too, right? I'd love to see some haiku go viral!
Wow! I am so glad I found your blog! I feel like you could be such a good friend. I'm a high school librarian and poet who loves picture books. I am so divided at heart -- loving my job but miss the world of picture books. I am going to try to send you a few of my own haiku instagrams by way of introduction. Nice to meet ya! (found you over at the Missrumphius site). tess
These are awesome, Andi! A pair of purple Keds appear in my WIP, so that photo especially made me smile.
Though it feels a bit like cheating to illustrate a haiku I love your work. You had me at the purple sneaks. I'm going to give it a try. here's my today entry https://www.dropbox.com/s/i0kj8qvvy4qw11g/2013-04-11%2012.53.41.jpg Thanks for recommending the app too.
Judy I don't know why you say it feels like cheating. ;) The haiku masters in old Japan did "haiga" with paintings but I think photography works well. Check out http://www.dailyhaiga.org/
And Judy I love your work! The light from snow and the new maple leaves - nice balance!
