i thought it might be fun to take on the four elements (in between commissions), so i began with a self-portrait of sorts...the true definition of a fire sign.

meet serafina, the goddess of fire. PRINTS (AND SUCH) can be found through the shop links here. also, the ORIGINAL PAINTING is FOR SALE. contact me if interested and please place the word SERAFINA in the subject line so i don't mistake it for spam/junk mail.

i'm hoping to get to the remaining elements (air, water and earth) SOON! :) currently working on a couple commissions.... Read the rest of this post

9. Exclusive interview with Alison Cherry!

What if you lived in a town where redheads reigned supreme? That's the premise of Alison Cherry's satirical new novel Red, set in the fictional town of Scarletville. Felicity St. John has hair to die for - rather to dye for. You see, her mom has been getting Felicity's strawberry blonde hair dyed since she was little, determined to make her daughter popular and powerful. Now Felicity's in high school, about to participate in the Miss Scarlet Pageant, much to her chagrin and her mother's delight. Then a series of anonymous notes appears in Felicity's locker: someone knows the truth about Felicity's hair and is threatening to reveal all unless she does what they say. How far will Felicity go to protect her roots? Will she do what her mother wants, or will she finally be able to just be herself?

Author Alison Cherry, a natural redhead, stopped by my blog Bildungsroman today. Check out our discussion about society, conformity, and individuality, as well as the writing process.

10. welcome July....

with sweet little Ruby and her crustacean friend, Alaska.

July is most definitely one of my LEAST favorite months (too damn hot). but, Ruby surely makes it more tolerable ;)

still recovering from spinal surgery and my hand and arm are still experiencing muscle spasms and such, but hoping to be able to get back to a full time painting schedule SOON!

11. on the easel today....

a beautiful red head mermaid named Ruby, just in time for July with her little crustacean crab friend :)

i'm carefully getting back into the groove after three c-spine surgeries/fusions and painting is going a bit slower than usual, but i guess that's to be expected at this stage. just grateful to be able to pick up the brush at all!

i hope to be done little Ruby in the next few days, just in time for the new month of July next monday. not my favorite month. too darn hot!!!

but, Ruby can be my saving grace for the month ;)

15. and it gleamed in the distance and it shone like the sun

A new one here. When I started this it was going to be one of my trademark pen drawings. Just a bunch of pens on a page. I don't know at what point it became London Bridge. That's even if it is London bridge and not, in fact, Tower Bridge.

Can you read the text on this one? Cos, I seriously have NO idea what I'm doing when it comes to resizing these days. It's pot luck.

Anyway, this one drawing is not just new to my blog, but it's new to my shop too. I've put a few originals up for sale over the last few days. Have a gander HERE.
