Personal and Writing BIO
When someone asks me how long I’ve been writing, I can quite honestly say, “Most of my life!” I had my first poem published in Wee Wisdom Magazine in the summer of 1963. I was 10 years old. Since then I have always had the burning desire in my heart to write, and write I did! From love notes to poems and greeting cards, to short stories to letters to the editors, I wrote almost daily. Even when I worked full time as a sales representative (for many years) I wrote on the side.
I’ve written for more than 20 national magazines (with more than 300 articles published), like Quilt, Romantic Homes, Victorian Homes, Ohio, and many others. I’ve published 10 books and have written another 12 that are in the process of being published. My wonderful husband, Rick and I are also both photographers and he has photographed the homes for the magazines for which I’ve written. We work together as a team and also photograph weddings, families and other events.
Eventually, I left my full time job and decided to go into writing full time. I took a position as a reporter for the Pulse Journal, a weekly paper in Mason, Ohio. When an opening came available the following year, I became editor at the Fairfield Echo. The hours were long and the pay was minimal so I went back to being a reporter and within the following year I started Journey Stone Creations, LLC. I continue to write for the Echo in a weekly column.
In addition to writing, I’ve always been involved in my church and I am co-president of our ladies group, Women on Mission. I teach a ladies class for Sunday School, and belong to a wonderful group of ladies called the BRATs: Beautiful Radiant Angel Team. They are my inspiration.
On a personal note, I’ve been married to my first love, Rick, for 37years (on May 9th), have three grown and married children: Billy, married to Jill; Mylina, married to Steve; and Eric, married to Nyki. In the last two years we have been blessed with two grandchildren from Billy and Jill: Sierra, who was three in May, and Parker, who turned two in August.
