About Scot
I've been illustrating for about 20 years and have 48 books out now, some of which I also wrote. Being an author feels great.
I was actually looking for reviews of a book that recently came out (Let's Go! The Story of Getting from There to Here). I had to laugh when I read one review where they had written very nice things about the writer (Lizann Flatt) and her work - all well deserved. Then, in the last half of the last sentence the reviewer mentioned the 'eye appeal' of the book. A very nice thing to say of course but how do reviewers get away with that? Illustration is a huge part of kids books and doesn't seem to get the notice it deserves. Anybody else have that experience? Having been on both sides of the fence now (writing, and illustrating) I can see they each have their own challenges.
