I work full-time as an editorial assistant at The Daily Astorian newspaper in Astoria, Oregon, and edit/write a weekly column, In One Ear. I also do my own photography for the paper whenever I need to illustrate one of my stories.

Which makes sense, since I am also a professional photographer, and have been for 30 years. On the weekends, during the spring, summer and early fall, I sell my digitally enhanced photos of the North Coast (Northern Oregon and Southern Washington coastal areas) at street markets. It's hard to say which is my bigger love, writing or photography, as I spend all of my working and free time on both.

Lately I've started writing a series of children's stories about the adventures of a young girl who lives by the sea with her talking dog, Rolfe. The stories are very loosely based on my childhood. I grew up in a small lobstering/oystering village in New England, and I, and my imagination, were left alone to run wild on the shoreline and beaches, and in the marshes and forests, from the time I was old enough to go to school. I'm writing the stories for my granddaughter, but of course, I'd like to see the stories get published one day.
