Hi Martha, thank you for reaching out to me. Hurricane Irene's wrath hit me at 4am Sunday morning, casting me into darkness while howling winds and pounding rain made some of my large trees timber down; actually felt the BOOMS!!! inside my house. A babbling brook at the front of my property became a deep raging river and I couldn't cross past for 3 solid days.
Fortunately, I was prepared for the worse and didn't need to evacuate with my beloved 3 cats. Sadly no human children. The power finally came back on after 2 days - wow do I love electricity:).
Although many people still do without power as I write this, and the small nearby quaint towns were flooded to utter ruin. Historical structures washed away forever, like a 127 year old walkway bridge. Holiday cheer in the coming months is gonna be bittersweet, although perhaps more meaningful than ever seeing as precious life will be treasured even more.
Parts of Florida were supposed to be hit too I estimate, so in any regard I'm happy to know you and your family are A-OK. Thanks for being a caring friend.
