1. Motherhood And Big Dreams

Life as a mother of two toddlers, that are 15 months apart, can be very consuming. From the moment that I wake up in the morning, my thoughts revolve around my children. For me, motherhood can be both a blessing and a struggle to keep my head above water. There is always something to do; dishes to clean, laundry to sort, messy hair to brush, diapers to change and dirty faces to clean. Thankfully, my oldest is potty trained so now I only have one stinky bottom to change and my wallet stays a little fatter.

My children are truly a blessing to me and there is no greater occupation in the world. The question I have for you is this, do you believe that it is reasonable to have outside goals when there is so much required of yourself as a mother? I believe that the answer is yes. You just need to move at a pace that does not put your family on the back burner. In fact, taking time to pursue something of interest to you, will energize you to be a more effective mother and wife. My outside goal is to become a writer. I am only able to work on stories when time allows-which is usually when my children are asleep. Moving forward, you must believe in your ability to accomplish what you are setting out to do. Perseverance and knowledge is the key to growth. Do not quit and do not stop learning. I will not put my goals before my husband and children, but I refuse to leave my dreams on the shelf of, “wishful thinking,” to collect dust.

Everyone has a, “sweet spot.” It is like our fingerprint and it makes us unique. For myself, there is a desire to create. When I take part in creating a piece of fiction or composing music, growth occurs in both my abilities and my character. Imagination seems to run wild when you feed it on a regular basis. Yes, I do trust that we can be great mothers and pursue our dreams. If I didn’t believe this, then I would not be sitting here with you; in dire need of makeup application, blogging in my sweats, all while two precious angels are taking a nap. I hope that my commitment to writing will not only be an encouragement to you, but will somehow be another stone on this path to big dreams. Join me on this journey and feel free to share your story with me! I would love to hear it.
