1. "Caged"

Wow! Has it really been 2 years since my last picture? My, how time does fly. Anyway, this weeks word gave me an image in my mind immediately. I couldn't let it pass. Hopefully, it won't be another 2 years before my next posting.

2. "Baby"

What a baby.. you whiner you... Cry baby! Wah! wah! wah! This was actually an illustration that I had started for an Illustration Friday months ago. All I had was very faint lines and certainly nothing close to even being a finished, unfinished sketch... Hmmmm, does that make sense?
So while I had the beginnings, it ended up going in a different direction, but hey, it works for me... So, I present, Baby... and as a baby, who in the heck knows just why he's crying.... What a big baby!

4. Wrinkle

Well, it's certainly been a while since I've had something to put up. Working two jobs makes it kind of hard, of course, it helps when it's a word that gives me an immediate image in my head. This weeks Illustration Friday word did just that. Wrinkle, the very first thing that popped into my head was a Shar-pei. So, here's my contribution.

6. The Scale

I did this as a joke.. A friend of mine sent me an email about middle age nursery rhymes. Of course I couldn't let it go at that, so I added one of my own. Yes, the drawing's mine ... ermmm, I know it's not a nursery rhyme, but hey! at least it rhymes and that's mine too!!! Thanks Bonny for getting my mind going yet again!

8. I'm watching you!

Unfortunately, do to two spamming comments left on my blog, one of which had a virus, I've had to put my blog into my moderating the comments before they can be posted. Quite frankly, I find this a pain in the ass and troublesome. But for you, my viewer and for the protection of your computer, this has to be done. I'm really sorry that it's come to this, I do hope you all understand. My next step would be to take it private, which would eliminate a lot of my family and friends the ability to leave me a comment. I hope you all understand why your comments won't immediately appear on my blog... Thanks,

Karin

10. Choose

*SIGH... Last week's Illustration Friday word was choose. It was a great word and I got my idea almost immediately.
Unfortunately, my pencil just didn't seem to want to co-operate with me and so I didn't get it done. But the word and my idea wouldn't leave me alone, I kept seeing in my mind what it was that I had wanted to draw. Though my illustration is late, I "choose" to finish it anyway and besides, isn't it better late than never? Sooo, the next question is, what do you choose coffee... tea... or.... me?

12. Theory

I have this theory... live and let live... ummm, man evolved from apes... ummmm, man could live in peace if they'd quit being greedy. Well, at any rate, I decided that the best way to describe theory for Illustration Friday was to use "The Big Bang", one theory explaining the creation of the universe. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I agree or disagree... This is merely illustrating... theory....
Did I mention? after a prolonged absence... it's great to be able to put something up again...

14. "Trick or Treat"

Remember when you were a kid, and you'd say, "trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat..."? Well, that's what I always heard when I went out trick or treating... In thinking about how I wanted to illustrate trick or treat for Illustration Friday... all I could think about was Charlie Brown... and how he always got a rock...
So while my little guy experienced lots of tricks... the tides are turning in his favor, and happily, by the end of the night... He could open up his own candy store.

16. I've been tagged!!!!

Wow! I've never been tagged before, but just the other day, I found a comment on my blog from Meinhild telling me that I had been tagged... However, I've been a busy little bee and haven't had time to do this until now. I guess that I have to tell seven things about myself... Well, while I'm thinking about that, here's who I'm going to tag:
juj, phthaloblu, biteyourowntail, martin, Ursula Shaw, Emily and Kittymeow.
I do hope that you will check them all out as well, their blogs are wonderful..

Now I guess it's time to share the seven facts about me...

1. My grandpa came to the States from Germany in the 1920's. He was living in New York, but had a job offer with Disney Studios, who were just starting out. Alas, he turned it down, but continued to paint into his late 70's. He and I would go to the Art Museum a lot.

2. I have a passion for not only creating art, but for art history as well.

3. I collect unusual owls.

4. I listen to all kinds of music.. I love music almost as much as I love art.

5. I'm a PS2 freak.. and lately I've been playing "The Darkest Faerie".

6. I love soft, cuddly stuffed animals.

7. One of my goals yet is to illustrate a children's book.

Okay, guess that takes care of it... Thanks Meinhild for the tag! :)

18. Grow

Grow.. sooooo big... My blog is growing with every word that I illustrate for Illustration Friday... But... with a little sunshine, some water... what more could a little daisy want... Who knows... maybe someday, that little daisy just may grow into a sunflower!

20. Extremes

This week's Illustration Friday word is "Extremes".. To what extremes will I go... From happy to sad? Being surrounded by friends or being alone? To be too hot, or too cold? Laughing long and hard, or sitting silently crying...? So many extremes...
My take on it though was bungee jumping... Something that I could never do... I hate heights... I'm thinking... I'd actually look worse than my guy does! :)

23. Momentum

I had sent out an email to my art buddies for their ideas for the Friday Illustration word, "momentum", and while they had good suggestions, the minute I hit the send button, my idea came to me.. It grew faster than I could keep up with it, my idea hurried on ahead of me... growing in momentum until... at last! I saw the beginning, the middle and the end... But this time I was going in yet a new direction... instead of just one drawing, I ended up with five... and then thought that the best way to present it, was in making it into a comic strip...
So here it is, my story of momentum....
