Dynamite Entertainment has established a new partnership with Humble Bundle. The two collaborators will offer a deal called the “Best-Selling Authors Bundle.”
Customers can choose between the publisher or a non-profit as the recipient of their money. They will have three charity options: the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, Doctors Without Borders (a.k.a. Médecins Sans Frontières), and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Here’s more from the press release: “The ‘pay what you want’ model offers readers the chance to unlock over 120 comics, and over 3,500 pages of content. This will give graphic lit fans access to: Charlaine Harris’ Grave Sight Part 1 by Charlaine Harris, The Shadow Vol 1: Fire of Creation by Garth Ennis and Aaron Campbell, Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thomson: Hopcross Jilly by Patricia Briggs, The Complete Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Leah Moore, and John Reppion, Sherlock Holmes: Year One by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Scott Beatty, The Spider Vol. 1: Terror of the Zombie Queen by David Liss and Francesco Francavilla, and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Echoes by Tom Clancy. As the bundle progresses, there will be a running average.”
We review Quentin Tarantino's claustrophobic eighth feature
In his first public conversation since making comments at an October 24th protest that has sparked a national police boycott of his films, including the upcoming HATEFUL EIGHT, Quentin Tarantino takes aim at his critics.
Well here’s a project you didn’t expect to see: Quentin Tarantino’s firebrand Django is teaming up with Zorro for an adventure co-plotted by Matt Wagner and Tarantino, with Wagner penning the tale The project is a joint Dynamite/DC production with Reggie Hudlin, who wrote the DC Comics adaptation of Django Unchained, editing the project.
“I’m very very excited about both this story and the opportunity to work with Matt,” said Tarantino in a statement. “It was reading his Zorrostories that convinced me what a good idea it was to join these two icons together. And the story idea we came up with is thrilling, and I think will be an exciting new chapter for both characters.”
“This project is an absolute thrill,” said writer Wagner. ”When Quentin and I first met, it felt like we’d known each other for years. The give-and-take energy of our initial story sessions was just incredible! It’s a particular buzz to be writing Zorro once again…and especially to team him up with the magnetic lead character from Quentin’s most straight-up heroic movie, Django Unchained! The Wild West is never gonna be the same once these two come to town!”
According to Hudlin this is the first time Tarantino has allowed a comics continuation of one of his films. Tarantino is a long time comics-admirer and collector, however, and his films are full of comics references, such as the “Superman/Clark Kent” metaphor at the end of Kill Bill. THe Django Unchained comic was the first time he’d dabbled in the medium, despite past hints, and this is going even further.
Both Django and Zorro are firebrands who seek to avenge injustice, so expect some vigilante action.
Ninja Essays has created an infographic called, "Top Writing Tools of Famous Authors," which explores the technologies used by great writers.
According to the graphic, Stephen King, J.K. Rowling and Quentin Tarantino rely on pen and paper to get their ideas out. George R.R. Martin uses an old DOS machine that runs Wordstar 4.0.

MOON KILLERS by Laura A. H. Elliott
“When something feels wrong, it usually is.”
My boyfriend Drew places his hand on my cheek. We’re lying next to each other in the end zone at the high school’s dark, empty football stadium. Blades of grass tickle a warning all along my spine––Drew and I aren’t alone. I rustle in place, trying to shake the feeling that someone is out there in the dark, watching us. Instead, I lose myself in Drew’s gaze, caring and not caring that he’s picked tonight to tell me everything––finally. When he leans in close, I close my eyes, feel his lips on mine and melt in his arms. He kisses me as if he’s lived a thousand lifetimes and discovered only love matters. But he will die. And I will not. Not for a very long time.
What’s your high school football stadium look like? Post your pic or link to your video here and I’ll send you a kindle copy of Shadow Slayer:D If we get more than ten football stadiums posted, then I’ll throw in a surprise bonus too.

Four storytellers
One ancient demon
No way out…
Four women who call themselves The Storytellers have gathered one hot August evening to tell tales, as they have for years. But on this night, they unknowingly evoke the powers of an ancient Mayan idol that breathes real life into their stories. The Mayan idol isn’t the only ancient being awakened. A power-hungry demon is determined to see the women fail and become enslaved to him forever.
Now the women’s lives depend on surviving each other’s stories, defeating the demon and solving a centuries-old mystery.
If they survive until The End untold wealth is theirs. But some stories have a life of their own…

OMG! The road to this cover has been hilarious! There was the too-chicklity version the hands-down-the-pants version, the oh-kiss-her-already version and then…..the version that won….the Quentin Tarantino version! Cover design is an adventure for every writer. It’s near and dear to my heart because I loved working in graphics for decades and there’s lots to do here at what I lovingly call the fiction factory. I make the coffee and the popcorn, (you all know that ) …I’m the janitor….tech support….I’m the buddy in the cubicle next to me who drives me nuts and chews my clock….AND…..I’m the book trailer gal, word maven, wine drinker, coach, and book designer. LOL! Next to writing, book cover design has got to be one of my favorite jobs as an indie––in a terrifying but fun sort of way. I love designing book trailers too but the covers are where I usually get to see my characters for the first time and that’s always magical. I hope you enjoy them. But enough about the book cover journey……

Bursting into today’s Before Watchment panel with apparently nobody’s permission, 9ft filmmaker Quentin Tarantino announced – and given his ability to talk, is probably still announcing now – that he will be writing a 5-issue miniseries for DC’s Vertigo imprint, based on his upcoming film Django Unchained.
About a slave who becomes a bounty-hunter in order to please Christophe Waltz/gain his freedom, the film stars Jamie Fox, as the crowd assembled at the panel are probably being told about right now. There was very little sign that DC knew Tarantino was going to announce this so soon, but here’s a rough transcript of his speech thus far:
One of the things I’m really excited about is that Django Unchained is a big epic, and when I write these epics there’s a lot of stuff that doesn’t make the movies I’m always stuck with adapting my unwieldy script into a movie every day so what’s really cool with doing this is as a comic book is it’s the entire script all the material that didn’t make the movie will all be part of the piece I’m really excited about that, so be looking out for Django Unchained in a comic book store near you! ….And thanks for letting me barge in on your panel!
Look for DC to scramble together an official press release later tonight. Oh Quentin!
Most amazing thing about HATEFUL EIGHT: Tarantino actually got financing for a movie with a 53-year-old lead actress (Jennifer Jason Leigh). I didn’t think such a thing was allowed in Hollywood.
Hi George:
‘Sure’, but the only time anyone is going to know about Leigh if from you post -thats it. I wish my job was not out-sourced to India, so then I would not had relocated to this job I had where my boss fired me after he found out I filed a complaint, because of his abusive behavior, and for consistently treating me like, and for referring to me as literally a ‘dog’ -Colorado is an ’employment at will state’ for temp and contract workers. I bet Tarantino could make a film that could convince me that the USA still actually exists… I bet he is that good of a director, and writer, it would probably be a comedy.
