16. Holiday Bookmark Swap: Inspiration (Part 7)

Today's one more installment of my continuing inspiration series for the upcoming Holiday Bookmark Swap. I hope all of you are having as much fun admiring the pretty bookmarks as I am. :) And in the chance that you may have missed some of the past inspiration posts, you can search using the bookmarks label to see more of the great bookmarks we've traded in the past.

Here's today's inspiration:

Another good mix of both handmade and store bought. Isn't that wood one in the middle neat? The person who sent it in made it from the branches of trees in their orchards. It's super cool! And I love the other two too. So much fun stuff...

18. Holiday Bookmark Swap: Inspiration (Part 6)

It's drawing close to the closing of signups for The Holiday Bookmark Swap, but I still have a few bookmarks I want to show off. If you're new to this, this series of posts is intended to show off some of the bookmarks we had for the last bookmark swap I hosted. Everyone needs a little inspiration sometimes. :) And if you weren't aware by now, I'm a total bookmark nut.

If you'd like to see past inspiration posts, you can search using the bookmarks label.

If you want to join the fun, make sure you visit the main post for the details. Upcoming deadline is November 24th!

And here's today's inspiration:

Aren't these neat? I have no name for them other than "mixed media". The swapper who made these was so creative in the way they combined different objects, so these are super fun to look at.

19. Holiday Bookmark Swap: Inspiration (Part 2)

This is part of my continuing inspiration series of posts for the holiday bookmark swap. The point of these features is to share from time to time a photo of some of the bookmarks we had sent in last time, for inspiration's sake. And because I like showing off bookmarks. (Yes I know I'm addicted...)

So for those of you who are participating and need ideas, or for those who would like to know what kind of bookmarks you'll be getting in the mail, here's a sneak peek. If you'd like to see past inspiration posts, you can search using the bookmarks label.

And if you want to join the swap, it's not too late. Visit the main post before November 24th to sign up to participate!

Here's today's inspiration:

The swapper who contributed these mentioned she picked them up in a little Asian stationary shop she was browsing. Aren't they adorable. They may not be big (they're only a little over 3 inches long) but they are super cute. I love the glitter on them too, which you can't really see in the picture so much. But, you know, I'm super girly like that. :)

For those of you who are interested in the Holiday Bookmark Swap, I thought it would be fun to see some of the bookmarks we had in the last round. For inspiration's sake. :) I'll be sharing a post from time to time with a photo of some of the bookmarks we had sent in last time.

So for those of you who are participating and need ideas, or for those who would like to know what kind of bookmarks you'll be getting in the mail, here's a sneak peek.

And if you want to join the swap, it's not too late. Visit the main post before November 24th to sign up to participate!

And now, on to the bookmarks!

Aren't these little scrapbooking bookmarks cute? There was such a diverse range of styles/colors, these were so fun to look at. I've got one of my own sitting in a book right now!

21. Bookmark Swap: Spread the Word!

We interrupt the pending Halloween holiday with a special announcement. Thank you to everyone who's signed up for the Holiday Bookmark Swap. It already looks like it will be a lot of fun.

So here's where I need your help. It would be wonderful if we could get as many people as possible to participate in this. To do that, I need to help spread the word. Whether you're participating or not, if you have a chance to post about this on your blog/Facebook/Twitter/whatever, I would very much appreciate it!

Now, you may have noticed the pretty little button I have over in my right sidebar. Well, you can grab it for your very own to post in a sidebar, forum signature, or wherever you can post HTML. Here's the code for it:

<center><a href="http://theshadyglade.blogspot.com/2010/10/holiday-bookmark-swap.html"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gczbiLBRgvw/TMoAP8JOIsI/AAAAAAAACVM/GP9GaY1ns1s/s320/holiday+bookmark+swap+small.jpg" /></a></center>

If anyone has trouble with the button, please let me know. And thank you again for helping get the word out, even if you're not doing the swap yourself. Every little bit helps, and this is going to be so much fun!

22. Holiday Bookmark Swap

My last bookmark swap in September was a lot of fun. I got a lot of great enthusiasm back from the participants, so we're going to do it again.

I know it's still only October at the moment, but the holidays are right around the corner. Christmastime is one of my very favorite times of year, so I thought it would be fun to do another swap in time for the holidays. It's always especially fun to get new packages in the mail around Christmas. :)

Rules:
Each swapper will be asked to send 5 bookmarks into the swap. In return, at the completion of the swap you will get 5 new bookmarks in the mail. This swap is open internationally!

Cost of registration is $3 for US swappers, $4 for Canada and Mexico, and $5 for any other international participant. This covers the cost of postage for the return package. Payment can be made via PayPal, or by cash in the mail at your own risk (for US only).

Sign Up Deadline:
To participate, you need to be signed up by Wednesday, November 24th. All packages must be mailed by no later than Wednesday, December 1st.

How to Sign Up:
If you are interested in swapping, simply enter your information into the form at the bottom of this post. Everyone who fills out this form will get an email from me within a few days giving them the full rules, details, and FAQs. This email will have the link to sign up for participation. It's a little clunky, but this frees up the blog from having super long posts full of information all over the place.

Selected Frequently Asked Questions:
Do the bookmarks have to be handmade?
No. You can buy your 5 bookmarks if you don’t feel comfortable making your own.

Do the bookmarks have to be holiday themed?
No. You can send themed bookmarks if you want, but it is totally up to you what you send into the swap. Christmas, winter, or everyday themed, it doesn’t matter.

If I’ve done a swap before, can I do it again?
Sure! We’d love to have both new and returning swappers participate. Returning participants will have to pay the swap fee again (since it covers postage), but we’d love to have you join us again.

Do “swag” or other advertising bookmarks count towards the 5?
Although swag bookmarks are fun, they do not count for this swap. You are more than welcome to include some swag in your package (and if you do you will probably also get some back) but you will still be required to contribute 5 other bookmarks to the swap.

How many bookmarks will I receive in return?
You are guaranteed at least 5 bookmarks, the same number as you sent out. In the past we had some generous swappers who also included swag and extra bookmarks in their packages, so I was actually able to send more bookmarks back to people than they sent in. But this totally depends on you’re your fellow swappers send in. Either way, you will get 5 bookmarks no matter what.

To see one example of some of the bookmarks we had last time, check out this post.

To get started, make sure you fill out the form below.

It's going to be a fun swap. We've got a few participants confirmed already and there's some neat bookmarks being sent. Looks like lots of fun! :)

25. The Great Bookmark Swap

Just a quick update on my extended absence. The tech guy said this morning that they have to send someone to redo the cable (or something like that) so it looks like it's going to be a few more days (maybe even a week) before it's back to normal. Ugh. My blogoversary is this Wednesday but since it looks like I'm going to miss it, I'm planning a big giveaway as soon as I get back.

But onto the reason for this particular post. I'm on borrowed internet really quick (again) but since I got a lot of support for the idea of a bookmark swap in my post last week, I’ve decided that I’m going to give it a go.

So here’s the basic idea. Each member who participates in the swap will be responsible for sending out 5 bookmarks. Then as soon as everyone has gotten their packages mailed in, you will get a package in the mail back with 5 new bookmarks in it. They can be either store bought or handmade, it’s up to you. Packages need to be mailed by September 25th, which gives you three weeks-ish (in case you are making them). Registration to participate is $3 for US swappers, $4 for Canada and Mexico, and $5 for any other international participant (this is to cover return postage for your package back to you).

To limit the amount of space I spend on the blog on specifics, I’m going to do signups this way. I’ve created a form for you to sign up if you are interested in participating. This is not a commitment to participate, you are just indicating interest. After 1 week I will email those who have signed up with all the further details. From that point you can decide if you want to commit or not, and registration will be completed by email.

So if you think the swap sounds like fun, don’t forget to complete this form. And if you know anyone else (blogger or not) who likes bookmarks and may be interested, please spread the word. You can use the email button at bottom of the post to forward this to someone, or even post it on your blogs if you have one and would like to share.

Any questions? Leave ‘em in the comments or send me an email and I’ll get back to you ASAP. When my internet is working again anyway...
