1. iPad Warm-up Painting

This is my cat, Flubby.  He doesn't move for days at a time.  That is, unless, I'm trying to paint him.

3. Cardinal #4

Today's cardinal is a sketch from life.  Well actually it's not from "life" because the bird was a dead. This is from a trip today to the Harvard Museum of Natural History where I went on a drawing field trip with some awesome kit lit peeps; Samantha Grenier, Eloise Narrigan, Jason Hart and Marcela Staudenmaier. Thanks everyone for a lovely day!

5. Drawing From Life - Day 2

I love Sharpies. When I was painting this I realized printed under the Sharpie logo it says, "Not for Letter Writing." Who says!?

This is day 2. 33 more days to go. (This was done in Photoshop.)

7. Drawing from Life #2

So far, so good sticking to resolution #1. Hopefully I can fill up a sketch book this year. These are some random kids at Taekwondo class. It's a tough place to draw because they never stand still. BTW, the baby wasn't taking Taekwondo she was waiting for her big brother.

8. New Year Resolution #1 - Draw More from Life

Okay, I make this resolution every year. And every year, it falls to the bottom of my to-do list and I never seem to get around to it. But this year, I'm going to try my best. Even though most of what I draw isn't realistic, I think drawing details from life enlivens any illustration.

So here's my plan. I have, or should I say, my son has Taekwondo on Mondays for 1 hours and on Wednesdays my daughter has dance for 90 minutes. So even if I draw for those two times every week that's more than I did last year. At least I'm progressing in the right direction.

Here's my drawing from last week's ballet class. I eventually want to start going outdoors and doing some plein air work but it's January in New England, so for now, I think a warm Panera Bread sounds much more inviting.
